Yeah I thought the vocalist, tim lambesis, was Christian, just wasn't sure where the rest of the band stood, cause they go to cornerstone and stuff...

There's an interview of Tim talking about his tatoos, and he's a Christian, lol.

Darn, half-christian metal bands! Oh for the love of all that is good and holy... I can only hope that was a joke. ................ I-... S:GDLKHDSL:GKHSL:DKHG alright. Now. Listen. I know there are some youguns on this board so I'm really going to try and be forgiving here. BUT Some of you come off as... the most.............. Superficial Christians... I have ever come into personal contact with. please stop :-( No but seriously. First of all.... A band isn't inherently "Christian." Music is not inherently "Christian." I'm fairly certain that's a discussion that's already been beaten very near to death on this board but... it needs to be reiterated... People, human beings can be Christians... Please don't treat band like scales that can be weighed and balanced: "Well, Norma Jean has 2 Christian members, so I guess they can be considered a Christian band."... That sort of logic is not only absurd, it's callous. Second of all..... Regardless of your stance on swearing... Don't you think it might be possible that certain human individuals (and I'll emphasize the "human" right there) might... slip... from time to time.. you know.... have faults.... So even in your asd;lfh alg ha;lhsg ;lh worldview that considers certain words to be unbreakable, irreparable sins... Don't you think you could give certain individuals in the public eye a little break before immediately condeming them through the utterance of a certain word? Does their language automatically determine their faith and their dedication to God? I challenge you to find me a 20-something Christian in the music business (or in any business) that doesn't have at least one bad habbit. (I'm not going to start with the subjectivity of language and why certain words have different power to different ears. My stance probably would'nt be at all appreciated here and I honestly don't find it important enough to argue.) Perhaps instead of saying "Christian band" or "Christians in a band" you should start using the label "Family Friendly band." Because honestly, that's what you're talking about here. You're not referring to lyrical subject matter or genuine spiritual beliefs or personal devotion... You're talking about whether band A says bad words or whether band B would be ok with mommy and daddy or even if band C has an exorbitant amount of tattoos. sadgh ;alksghaksdghkash'dg alright... I'm done. This is not an attack, I just really, really really needed to say it. The greatest of all the virtues is love, right everybody?

I try to be as "Christ-like" as possible. I quit listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival because lyrically speaking, they're unchristian. They don't cuss, they have good (family friendly) lyrics, but they're an Unchristian band. Seriously sorry if the above offended anybody. I'll just quit posting on this thread...

Well Norma Jean is a "Christian Band" or a "Family Friendly Band" or whatever you want to call it... Norma means pattern and Jean means grace and mercy... Norma Jean = Patterns of Grace and Mercy... anyway, some of their lyrics are about personal struggle, but they show hope at the end, showing that there is hope and a way out... thats what Disconnecktie is about, which I believe is the song that one of you quoted... plus, go read their lyrics back when they were Luti-Kriss...
"My outstretched arms for you My outstretched heart bleeds for you A cry rang out, "Crucify the Lord" and a cry saved my life, "It is finished" This is Jesus Christ who came to die for you now sins ripped apart He died for you I'm free and I love it, I'll fight for this I thank you God You're so great (He was so torn for you He died though He did not have to and this pain was for you) He was ripped and torn, spit on and mocked because you were you Then He died and rose again just for you to All the pain within is because you sin for yourself And Christ is the only one that will bring you through He died for you Thank you" - Body Of God/Luti-Kriss (AKA Norma Jean)
definitely Christian...
Next, As I Lay Dying IS also a "Christian band" There are multiple interviews stating this... and its easy to see if you actually read their lyrics...
"I cannot make it without You All my efforts have failed So that I will cry out in the need of You Restore the strength of my Dependence Send me through the fire Make me pure again Everything I am I give it all to You In Your arms I wait I lay down my life I am nothing without You"
- Refined By Your Embrace/As I Lay Dying

i definitely knew that old Norma Jean/Luti-Criss was Christian (because of Scogin). i was mainly wondering about the new guy and his lyrics.

If in doubt, check Godcore. Have I taught you nothing? Norma Jean: www.godcore.com/music/bands/interview.php?bid=662As I Lay Dying: (scroll down to 'Interview by Lucas') www.godcore.com/music/bands/interview.php?bid=620In addition, I find it very sad that people will say 'Oh, he said a swear word. I guess he's not Christian.' The closemindedness that pervades our culture... You don't have to listen to them if you don't want to, but to assume that they don't believe in Jesus Christ because they use the word f*** is a pretty ridiculous jump in logic, and I would encourage you to (a) think things through more carefully, and (b) read your Bible more closely. I've been known to drop the s-word on my livejournal, even while talking about matters of faith. Am I not a Christian? If you think so, I'd encourage you to not be so judgmental. Furthermore, there is no such thing as Christian music. There is music written by Christians, there are lyrics written by Christians; whether or not those happen to coincide with your particular view on faith is not guaranteed.
