virgin black is touring the u.s and opeth is touring the u.s seperately around the same time. I always thought Virgin Black was a Christian band. I mean they cry out Kyrie a lot on the new record. They usually juxtapose dark themes with hope... like the new record "My God be upheld in our distress, my cries fill the air, my cries fill the air"

They are followers of Christ.
And, it reflects through their lyrics.
The choice is really in the individual wether or not you call them a christian band; as some of us do not believe their is such a thing as a christian band, and all that controversy.

Yeah and that whole big debate when God's Guitarist decided to leave the boards... Eh if I can find the thread I'll post a link here. But basically let's just say that the band says they're Christian and write Christian lyrics, though some of their lyrics are pretty extreme and have offended many Christians and caused a lot of questioning of their faith.

I think it's the genre. Alice Cooper shocked people everywhere too, but he's a Christian. It's for entertainment a lot of the times.
