I bet if they didn't get as popular as they did, they wouldn't make such a big deal over the label. Your probably right. And, LeCompt was in Kill System. Which was bacically Soul Embraced plus LeCompt

We are all sinners. God doesn't judge a sin bigger than another. Flipping off the camera is just as bad as yelling at your best friend or even murdering someone. You are exactly right matrix. When I mentioned the evanessence thing I didn't mean flippin the bird at the camera = renounced faith. I heard that Amy actually said in an interview somthing like Yeah I'm not a chistian -or- I don't belive that way anymore. Again. Its Just a rumor. I saw an interview a couple years ago on Muchmusic where Amy says she is a Christian but the band's lyrics are separate from her faith. (When they play a Soul Embraced song it's hard to believe that).

well, i havent read the other poats besides the first couple, but, ill say what i feel.
i really dont like it when bands switch over from a christian label to secular, it just makes me feel like there in it for the money and not the reason they should (just praising God)... so, it kinda ticks me off. but, i think it's ok if a christian band has started with a secular label, i mean, if they get the message across, that's really what matters. it just makes me mad when a band switches over to a secular label... idk, it just kinda makes me feel like they sold out for the money and stuff... one main one that just happened recently was relient k, i used to be a HUGE fan, like, that was all i ever would listen to... but after they switched, i just stopped, i didnt wanna support them anymore... it just makes me mad...
whew, sorry for the long post... i just had to get that out... its kinda a big subject for me... pretty much, i just dont see why bands these days have to do it for the money, and not just... for God...

I don't see how being on a secular label will suddenly make them stop praising God. What about Believer, Extol, Tourniquet, Mental Destruction, Antestor (for one album)...?

ill be honest i didnt read anything past the first post...
hate to break down ideas along with that the Easter Bunny and Santa dont exist...
the Christian music Industry is a business...if you keep that in mind that these 'so called' Christian labels are pushing 'product' (ie bands) you can gather and rationalize the lack of integrity that goes along with it.
I know countless bands that fake and continue to fake the Christian label to make cd sales and get their albums sold in Family Christian Bookstores (MXPX anyone?)
Its a sad affair...but thats life.People suck, people have bad ways of making money and honest people usually get shortchanged.

LeCompt was also in Mindrage, a decent metal band that went unheard due to the lack of promotion they receieved. He served as a touring gutiarist for Soul Embraced and even helped write one of the songs on Immune.

I don't care either way if they call themselves 'Christian' or not, but don't abuse the term. People should know you're a Christian by the way you act on and off the stage. There is a popular band that used to be on Solid State, and those guys got in a fist fight on stage and canceled the show. They were representing Christ the wrong way. Props to BTA for being upfront and bold with their love for God, that's the way to do it. I think it's so funny when you're talking to a guy in a Christian band and they tell you, "I don't want to be preachy." I just say, "What like Jesus?" I was in a band a while ago and we broke up because two of the Christians didn't like talking about God at shows. Why wouldn't you want to tell people about the Almighty Lord!? WHy wouldn't you want to tell them the only way they can be saved!? The Christian hardcore/metal scene has become way too casual and lazy.

We are all sinners. God doesn't judge a sin bigger than another. Flipping off the camera is just as bad as yelling at your best friend or even murdering someone. While that may be true... but also as a Christian you are an Ambassador of Christ. So when you are in a band, or do something that is in the public eye while claiming Christ, it is a reflection of Christ & Christianity. So while all sin may be equal, i personally, would rather be guilty of yelling at a friend & having the chance to reconcile with them, than make a public image to be passed around. People claiming to be Christians are held to higher standards... & those who put themselves in the public eye should be at even higher standards. I see such apathy & low standards in the church anymore. And there is no exception of that in the Christian metal scene. Justification & excuses of actions has replaced humility & admission of guilt. Christians seem more & more about themselves, their wants. Entertainment is priority over acts that show evidence of faith. Much of what i see anymore is selfishness.
Not intending to attack any one person. And i'm aware that there are good people/organizations/bands out there. But the day-to-day Christianity i see is bringing me down. That mixed with some personal problems i struggle daily with my faith.
