That's a ridiculous looking abbreviation haha.
And he says it's cool too. He also says (understandably) that it makes all the lyrics make a ton of sense.

How about you listen to the music? Sure Immortal looks like a bunch of a**holes in Call of the Wintermoon, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the music. Candlemass on the other hand... I did listen to a few songs from each. I simply was not impressed. It's generic, in my opinion. Obviously I have quite different tastes in music than a lot of people here... you'll simply have to deal with it. I do expect to be flame fodder for a while, great, have your kicks, whatever. Seriously man. First off, the first LS album is not awkward its what we in "the biz" like to call Thash Metal. I know, I know. Absolutely wild! Solos! Lack of Chugging! Intricate Leads! Soaring Vocals! Now calm down. I can understand a mindf**k at this level could be intense for your fragile metalcore soul, but calm down a little and lets test out the waters. This debut is a watered down Thrash though, so maybe you can handle it. Maybe after we try that out we can take off your papers and put a special pair of Pull-Ups called Metallica! Make sure to wet and s**t in them a little extra, because they've crossed over into your realm into the recent years. After than we can put you in the whitie-tighties of the Big Four. Though we may have to put a plastic sheet over your bed at night still. And when your balls finally drop down maybe you finally fit in those boxers called Hellhammer, Coroner and Morbid Saint. I mean we can't wipe your metalcore ass forever. As for dismissing Destroyer 666 and Immortal, as Ethan said FOAD. They will have more creative force and talent than you and your s**t band will ever have. FOAD and leave the f**king Hall.Ha, you're awesome. If my knees weren't locked in fear I might bow at your feet. Clearly you have the best taste in music. EVER. [/sarcasm]

I'm gonna offer some small input here.
I don't think generic is the right word you're looking for, at least in Immortal's case (I haven't ever listened to Destroyer 666, so sue me) because I'm pretty sure that Immortal's responsible for starting a lot of trends in the BM scene, so it wouldn't really be fair to call a band who did it first generic. Just sayin'. Ok, I'm done.

I actually really don't listen to much Black Metal at all, I'm not into much that is in opposition to what I believe (which is the gross of BM which I have come in contact with over the years). What I meant by generic is more that there is nothing about it that I find attractive... nothing that draws me to it.

Who cares?
All black metal is uninspired, boring, repetitive drivel that was created for the sole purpose of making nerds feel more important than they really are.

I could have sworn they were an Australian band. Oh well. they are. they just live in europe. anyway, i couldn't really listen so secular BM for ages. Then i saw Immortal and Emperor in the space of two days. And both bands slaughter Living Sacrifice muscially. I saw LS at cornerstone last year, and they were really good, but not exactly the greatest live band i've ever seen. That would be Antestor. Or Vaakevandring.

yes.
there's a load of differents types of music in my top live shows, i don't see how you can divide up live performances by genre in terms of quality.

I like some black metal (mostly un-black actually) in small doses, and I like some black metal influences (Ala Extol) but I can't listen to it too much. Candlemass though, is awesome. Don't be hating.

atmosphere does come into it, but as does musicianship, stage presence, and the show they put on. i agree that the atmosphere brought by black metal and christcore bands is completely different, but i feel that the quality of the show can be compared.

we can go and bicker about genres, but we all know jazzcore and post-country beat everything.
