I don't have a reason to live. “I hate myself and I want to die” - Kurt Cobain That's pretty much my life. The only reason im living right now is because i talk to like 3 people on the internet that i enjoy to talk to, other than that, i dont have a reason to live, I have no friends, I have no girlfriend, I have nothing.

How does Jesus do all these things for you? Please explain. Well, besides saving my soul from Gods eternal wrath (which I by the way damn well deserve(d)); he gave me a purpose in life. Before I knew Jesus I always thought life was kind off boring and the happiness one might acquire in it didn't quit way up to the hassle of living it; I come from a nice Dutch suburb where nothing intresting, be it bad or good, ever happens. But after becoming a Christian I figured I could be a missionary in some distant land, at least that would be a useful way to spend my life and I doubt that'll be boring, so I've set my sights upon the Middle East. I am motivated to do my schoolwork and live my life so that I can finish my highschool, then study theology (in the Dutch education system there is no college, you go straight from highschool to university) and then go to the Middle East to be a missionary. Basically, I like living my life on earth here because telling people about Jesus in a country where everybody who'll except your testimony will be decapitated sounds more romantic and intresting than having a crappy life having some random job safe down in my Dutch suburb among decent well-behaved happy people. ( Obviously that was grossly over-simplified; I'm not naïve, immature and ignorant enough to think being a missionary in a country where Christianity is persecuted will be 'fun' or 'exciting' or anything like that but I will feel like I'm living a life worth living and it will be a lot more intresting than being a rich European.) Also, I do feel like I just wrote what I wanted to say in a really stupid way, but I got to go now, so you'll just have to live with it.

No no, that's fine. I just wanted you to explain, and you did.
It sounds like you want to make a difference in the world, and faith in Christ is your means to doing that (correct me if I'm wrong). There are many other avenues you could have chosen to take to make a difference in the world like being a political activist, a criminal, or perhaps a philosopher who shapes the way people think.
What makes your choice stand out above the rest? (This question also goes for everyone else.)

yeah you are, nice try I do not find happiness through materialistic means Yeah, except not. So many posts I've seen of yours reek of scientific materialism.

Maybe because science rules. Invisible entities and wishful thinking don't.

Yeah, except that science itself actually refutes materialism. There are a lot of books written on this...not that you would care to read any of them and educate yourself.

What makes your choice stand out above the rest? (This question also goes for everyone else.) Well, first of all, I don't particularly feel like changing the world, the world (as in society) can rot and die, but I do care for the people inside this world. I wouldn't be a philospher ever, I really don't like philosophy at all; it is the most impractical nonsense humans have created for the sake of being civilized and intellectual and enlightened but (most of it, but note, not all of it) serves no other purpose as far as I'm concerned. All it does is ask questions, it doesn't provide any awnsers. Also, my faith in Christ doesn't stem from a some idealist mindset, rather my idealist mindset stems from my faith in Jesus. What bothers me is that, according to my faith in Jesus, people are going to go to hell, although poverty, human rights, political freedoms etc. also bother me, if I change all these things for the better but the people whos lives have been improved die and still go to hell, what good have I done? Now I generally want to avoid giving the impression I'm scaring people with hell and whatever, because I don't want to do that, but I also don't like preteding I have some happy-clappy fairy tail religion without a hell, when in reality I don't.

All it does is ask questions, it doesn't provide any answers. You must not know that much about philosophy.

Where does your faith in Jesus stem from? Why are you convinced that He is real and that Eternity is something people should be concerned about? Please note that I am not attacking your beliefs; I just want people to see clearly where each of us is coming from.

Yeah.... I was lolling when I was posting that too, can't quit think of a way to put it properly, maybe what I'm trying to say just isn't proper? At least there'll be plenty of lols in my life . You must not know that much about philosophy. I guess, but it's my Latin teacher, who has a master in philosophy who said that in the end philosophy generally doesn't give satisfactory awnser like, say, science does, but often leaves you more confused when it's through with you. Although the man's an old fool and a horrible teacher, he does spend most of his time reading books about philosophy and he has a master in it after all, so I guess he'll know. Whatever I've heard and read about philosophy seems to make me agree with him. I'll probably get a hard time when I'm going to study theology...... Where does your faith in Jesus stem from? Why are you convinced that He is real and that Eternity is something people should be concerned about? Please note that I am not attacking your beliefs; I just want people to see clearly where each of us is coming from. Well, I used to be a depressed lazy unmotivated gay porn-addict teenager but then Jesus came into my life and now I'm non of it. Now if you say I was just going through hormones and teen angst and that such an addiction is easy to get rid of if you have a little bit of self-control, you're probably right. I guess I'm a pretty pathetic and weak person who needs Jesus to take care of him. After finding Jesus to be a solid rock to stand upon I've seen plenty of miracles to strengthen my faith, but apparently most of the people on this messageboard don't regard people getting up out of wheelchairs, broken arms being healed, cancer being healed etc. all right at the spot after a quick prayer to be an argument in saying there might actually be a God. Guess it's just coïncedence or my imagination, ah well, at least I like my life now and I hope I can help other people to like their life too
