After reading this blag hebreaksthecedars.blogspot.com/2011/02/book-binding-trying-my-hand.html I decided I should give bookbinding a go. I was assisted by the earthquake, which provided me the necessary spare time, but on the other hand it restricted me to the fabric, thread, paper, card and other required items that I could find at home. Lucky my mum does lots of sewing and other kinds of craft stuff so I found enough to do the job, even if it wasn't the ideal product. I couldn't work out how to embed pictures from picasa, so here's the link picasaweb.google.com/tga240/Bookbinding?authkey=Gv1sRgCL-TtZff4P3ZaQ#5576820389033581698It is quite clearly handmade: I made an absolute hash of trying to clean up the edge of the pages, and the cloth cover was done terribly where it folds over onto the inside of the cover, but I've learnt lots for next time. The most useful website I found was one that blog didn't mention michaelshannon.us/makeabook/index.html, also I got a book out of the library, which was very good and has many, many different projects. It is Bookcraft by Heather Weston. Btw, the guy who writes the blog is a swordsmith and bta fan and co-owner of www.maddwarfworkshop.com
