I'm sorry it took me this long, but I really got why you guys chose Devin Townsend for Dichotomy. I recently started reading the Space Trilogy and Devin Townsend's discography, (specifically Accelerated Evolution and Deconstruction) resonate so well with the material that I couldn't pick another producer so in tune with the ideas behind the project if I spent a year thinking about it.
I think part of the reason the album turned out so well was in your fantastic choice of producer, which is no small achievement. I've seen producers wreck a perfectly good album with horrible advice. I've seen producers elevate a terrible band with sage advice and great guidance.
I've realized the reason I keep coming back to Dichotomy time after time has little to do with BTA as a band and everything to do with Dichotomy as an album. It's cohesive, complete, challenging, and rewarding.
This isn't a dig at any of the other discs. Terminate, the Physics of Fire and Celestial Completion all dominate my monthly playlist. My statement is that for Dichotomy, you picked the exact right producer. I don't think anybody else could have done it without severely compromising the results and messing everything up.

I love Devin Townsend. When I grow up, I'm going to be just like him.
