I've been upset with them after seeing the show they put on at C-Stone. They completely ruined the majority of the songs. In fact, the first song they played (I was too upset to remember which one) the drummer just stopped because he messed up. When I saw them with BTA, the drums were the most impressive part. It just seems like to me that they care more about being as popular as they can, instead of making the best music they can. It's not the new stuff isn't bad, just that it isn't their best, and I personally have problems with bands who can play better music but choose not to. p.s. No offense to anyone who likes the new stuff. I just needed to vent a little bit. well said i have yet to see them live though... some friends of mine camped out beside them at C-stone, i'm so bitter

What the hell happened? Where is the metal? don't get me wrong i still like it, i'm just confused, everyone was looking for them and BTA to bring back real metal. Looks like its just up to BTA now. Um..where exactly did Real metal go ? Real metal has disappeared and been replaced with Metalcore and Post-Hardcore. There are some real metal bands left, they are just few and far between especially in the Christian market. (the last good one was Living Sacrifice). by the way black metal doesn't count as real metal because it came afterward.

There are hundreds of real metal bands such as Aletheian, Crimson Thorn, Crimson Moonlight, Tourniquet, and Sympathy to name a few. Black metal has been around since the late eighties, so therefore it came first. Also BTA, Later Living Sacrifice, and The Showdown still share alot of similarties with metalcore.

That's true, but BTA is different for one reason. They write some metalcore stuff because it's good music, not because it's the popular style right now. Unlike some other bands. And that is why BTA is metal. ;D ;D

I was talking with Dave at Cornerstone. He said that this song might seem really pop-ish, but it's basically meant to show mainstream labels what they're capable as far as hit-making is concerned, and the rest of the album still has its heavy moments. There's definiltely less metal influence though. interview: www.godcore.com/music/bands/articles.php?a=interview&bid=2044

I don't know about the others but I know for a fact that crimson moonlight is black metal. Another thing you're wrong about, black metal has been around since before the late eighties, I'm not sure when exactly it started but I can just go ask my friend since he's more into black metal and all the other extreme metals like death, doom, and thrash. He also dabbles in grindcore, hardcore, and early punk. Early living sacrifice was thrash metal, and really crappy. BTA is a mix of Prog metal and hardcore and slightly death metal when you take into account the use of low and high screams. The Showdown is more traditional american metal but still taking some influences from metalcore.

Crimson Moonlight is also a current mix of black and death metal. BTW, you said "another thing you are wrong about" what exactly was I wrong about in the first place?

ALRIGHT YOU METAL HISTORIANS!!! it all started with groups like black sabbath and deep purple.they are now linked with iron maiden, metallica and motley crue.notice anything? ALLTHESE BANDS ARE CONSIDERED METAL BUT HAVE TOTALLY DIFFERENT STYLES!!! GUNS AND ROSES? METAL. ANTHRAX? METAL. SAXON? METAL. MORTIFICATION? METAL............ITS ALL METAL!!!! THEY CONSIDERSHOWBREAD METAL? NO ...WHY?!! IT SOUNDS A LOT LIKE 80'S METAL EXCEPT WITH A SCREAMING BACKGROUND VOCALIST!!! WHY IS POD IN METAL MAGAZINES? WHY NOT THE SOURCE FOR RAP? MUSIC IN MANY CASES CANNOT BE CATEGORIZED. TO AVOID FRUSTRATION.... just call it metal!youll sleep better! black metal started in the early 80's with venom-black metal to me always meant black-like evil-or satanic.so i dont consider bta to be black metal.just straight up hardcore metal!ask EXTOLwhat black metal means- in norway they have these satanic black metal bands that kill christians, burn churches and dig up corpses to eat ,smoke or just look at.thats why we are who we are!CHRISTIAN METALHEADS- BE IT HARDCORE/GRIND/THRASH/SCREAMO-WAHTEVER! ITS ALL FOR GOD AND HIS GLORY! TO BRING PEOPLE AWAY FROM SECULAR SHOWS WITH OPENLY CHRISTIAN BANDS SAYING WOW, IM TIRED OF GOING NOWHERE.IM TIRED OF GETTING STONED.IM TIRED OF NEGATIVITY!!! THOSE CHRISTIAN GUYS ROCK AND I WANT THAT SENSE OF PEACE THAT THEY HAVE!!!

Okay let me defend my self. Black and Death metal are not what I consider real metal, they are more of a progession of metal therefore something completly different. Yes it is true that metal has evolved over the years but the things that have changed the most is the singing. Yes Black Sabbath is metal, so is Metallica (a little more thrashy though), and bands like Motley Crue (glam metal is an actual genre). If they are all metal then how do you get to call Living Sacrifice metal? Because it has progressed and replaced all those forms of metal. If you hear a brand new band that sounds exactly like Motley Crue you would call that 80's metal. If someone sounded like Black Sabbath you would call that classic metal. All of them are still metal. Black and Death have always been an extreme metal and followed relatively similar patterns (which is why I don't really care for it all that much).
Im sorry, i should have said Regular metal instead of Real Metal.
