Well, I'm not into defending terrorism, but the IRA are more of a paramilitary organization. All civilian casualties that happened by their hands were collateral damage. They don't go after civilians. My dad calls them and Sinn Fein evil, but all he knows about Irish Resistance comes from Tom Clancy's "Patriot Games." At any rate, the Queen, whether she wants it or not, is an international symbol of British imperialism.
As for the story about India, that was from my friend, and Indian immigrant to the states.

The IRA renouced violence when N. Ireland got a parliament. Thats when the "Real IRA" split, and retained their commitment to violence. The Real IRA means business.

That idea might work if the Irish didn't have a bit of enmity with the Scots due to the fact that the Scots were hired by England to kill the last high king of Ireland.

On the other hand, the Irish were enlisted to battle with the Scots in a couple of their many revolutions. One could argue that they were conscripted unwillingly, yet since when does reason affect national blood-feuds?

what is Eriu? you know the celts came in and eventually wiped out the people living in ireland in ancient times including the mysterious 'picts' with their blue faces. it's amazing there is any celtic culture left considering the two super powers (in their respective times) Rome and Briton tried to erase them clean. if brian boru ran for president i would vote him in with video tape.

Eriu is the Gaelic name for Ireland. And the Celts didn't wipe out the Picts (Cruithni). Actually, they tended to live comparably well with them and even helped them in war.

The acting was tolerable, the plot inspiring, and the story grossly inaccurate. All in all it made me cringe. The only thing I'll deign to call 'good' about it was the fight scenes, and even then it's just because I'm easily satisfied in that area.

Well, once they leave, the people in Dublin and Cork can duke it out.
