Threads like these remind me of how little metal I listen to.

Same here. I think I've heard of like....2 bands on the whole lineup.

Whatever

So I'm kinda wondering though what exactly was going through the organizers mind when they were saying "I'm organizing a Death/Grind festival .... lets invite the first black metal band that comes to our mind!"
I just don't see them fitting in to well unless they only sing stuff off of Deathcrush lol

Awwww, aren't you so mature and special for being detached from metalWhatever Gotta love ignorant accusations from arrogant a**holes. Seriously, I've known you since the DH boards and all you ever do is try to start fights with people. "OMG! People don't like the same music I do, let me attempt to make fun of them!!#W@#$@%^$#" I don't think I'm "mature" for not liking metal. I actually do like some metal, but lately I've just grown more interested in indie/post-rock/post-hardcore type stuff. I apologize if you can't accept that, but last time I checked, I don't think my taste in music was intended to please you or anyone else on the internet.

I just get sick of the attitude that metal is something to "grow out of"
And I honestly don't care about how this forum views me, the people who care enough to know me outside of the boards can vouch for the fact that I'm never all that serious on any forum
Hate me if you want, but you're just wasting your time
Anyways, if Spawn of Possession, Anata or Gorod get added to this bill there's no doubt of me being there

Mmm while I would like to see those bands their I don't know if they would be able to fit them in considering they are at least in my experience fairly big names in the scene and I'm sure most of the long sets will be dedicated to Mayhem, Pestilence Immolation and Atheist.

I just get sick of the attitude that metal is something to "grow out of" Grow out of? I think that's a misinterpretation of posts by both augustwinterman and myself. Speaking for myself, I've never really listened to that much metal. It's not that it didn't/doesn't appeal to me, it's just never been something I've reaaally gotten into. The “peak” of listening to metal was probably in tenth grade. At that point most of the new bands I really got into happened to not be metal. I didn’t plan it that way, my tastes just changed. My comment earlier was not some sort of elitist remark about how "I'm better cause I don't listen to metal anymore (which isn’t even true)," it was simply an observation about the community on this forum and how I often feel out of place in it. And I sincerely hope not to start a fight with anyone on this forum. From what I've seen online those only leave people with hurt feelings and bloody knuckles.

I second what radar said. No one said they grew out of metal. Like I said, I still do listen to some metal, but I tend to enjoy other genres more. Metal just isn't something I go out of my way to listen, but if I do find a good metal band to listen to, I will enjoy them.

And I've certainly done it the other way around. At 13/14 I was listening to the same sort of music as people in their 30's were in England (U2, Keane, Daniel Bedingfield). Now I've grown into metal.

I'd say that I was into metal the most during my late high-school/early college days.
