STILL, SOUTHERN LORD'S BIGGEST THING IS QUALITY PACKAGING AND LAYOUT s**t. ITS NOT EVEN COMPARABLE TO SOLIDSTATE PUTOUT. FOR EXAMPLE, I HAVE THE SUNN O))) & BORIS COLLABORATION ALBUM "ALTAR", AND DEMON HUNTER'S "TRIPTYCH", WHICH CAN BE FAIRLY ASSUMED TO BE THE HIGHEST END OF THE SS/T&N MATERIAL SINCE TWO OF THE BAND'S MEMBERS ARE THE HEAD OF THE ART DEPARTMENT AT THE LABEL. THE ALTAR LAYOUT ABSOLUTELY KICKS THE ASS OF THE DH ALBUM IN EVERY ASPECT. YOU CAN JUST HOLD THE DAMNED THING AND YOU CAN FEEL THE QUALITY. ESPECIALLY FOR VINYL, SOUTHERN LORD IS AT THE TOP OF LIST FOR ART TO TIE IN WITH THE MUSIC. THEY ARE REALLY THE ONLY LABEL THAT MAKES IT WORTH IT TO ACTUALLY BUY THE CD ANYMORE. agreed, like i said, the art for Diadem Of Twelve Stars and Two Hunters is amazing, i bought Diadem on artwork alone before i even knew who the band were - i'd not heard them but people on here whose taste i respected were going on about them. i'm just not willing to shell out for Black Cascade on vinyl. i have the CD though. i just got the Jonsy And Alex album, and the art for that is pretty awesome. The vinyl version of Earth's The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull is pretty amazing aswell.

WELL, WORDED INCORRECTLY THEN. HOWEVER, IT IS IDIOTIC TO THINK THAT THE MUSIC OF THE BANDS LISTED IS ANY LESS VIABLE JUST BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY SING ABOUT, BE IT FEMINISM OR BEING ENVIRONMENTAL. THE MUSIC IS NO MORE TAINTED BY THE MESSAGE OF RECYCLING THAN IT IS BY THE MESSAGE OF JESUS. This

...must be eliminated. Black metal is supposed to be about hate, gore, death, Satan, ugliness, etc. not about love, dreams, forests, fairies, fashion, and cappuccino. The following bands must be boycotted if you don't want to be a hipster: - Wolves in the Throne Room - Alcest - Amesoeurs - Pretty much anything Neige touches - Leviathan - Lurker of Chalice - ColdWorld - H.O.P.E. is it a problem that i've literally never heard of any of these bands?

Especially since most of them are talked about pretty often on these very forums.

Holy s**t. I barely listen to black metal of this form, and I know almost every one of those.

I didn't know Ameseours was BM; I'd always heard them described differently.

Yeah... they certainly have bm influences though I probably wouldn't categorize them as bm.

So did you all enjoy your Starbucks and Pabst Blue Ribbon today? Nothing says swanky like listening to Burzum while shopping at GAP.

what are some black metal bands i would know? im not huge into metal these days.
honestly, i never knew or cared to know how to differientate between death, black, and all those other kinds of metvl. lets see, a list of what i consider serious metal bands from my itunes:
Aletheian Antestor Crimson Moonlight Encryptor Extol Horde
idk, i think thats it, i would include others but their genre as metalcore or grind or other stuff. just give me some "true metal" bands or whatever you consider, and we'll see if i have them in my itunes.
