When I decided to tune one of my guitars in C standard, I just went to the music store and asked for the heaviest strings.

You might need to add springs to your floyd as well.

You might need to add springs to your floyd as well. Maybe not. The thickest gauge he can get is probably 12, and when you tune a 12 out, it's somewhere between c and d standard. With some spring tension adjustment, he could probably get it to b without adding springs. Actually, adding a spring would possibly just jump the bridge up and keep him from tuning it down to b. My sincere answer would be to block the bridge off and not worry about any of this stuff. FR systems get unpredictable below d standard anyways.

UPDATE: I put .12's on and they work out perfectly. the bridge is basically flush with the body now.

I hate tuning guitars with a Floyd Rose bridge. Every time I've tried, it took like 45 minutes to get it right.

If I'm playing B-standard/Drop-A I usually use Ernie Ball's "Not Even Slinky" which are .56 - .12 For everything else, including drop-B, I use Ernie Ball's "Beefy Slinky", Which are .54 - .11

I usually tend to play down around B or A (sometimes lower). I usually get a custom set of strings (individuals): The low E is around .70 and the low A and D strings are just a little lighter but share the same gauge. From there is just goes gradually to .12.

It works best if you just order industrial cables from a construction company. The thicker the better. If you're lucky, they'll be too wide when combined to actually play, and you'll have the heaviest(get it?) guitar around.
