Yap, there are a mass of horrible bands on SS but also on Facedown ... I like Impending Doom, mostly I try to stick with pre-2000 bands though.

yeah the only bands i like in solid state are demon hunter, the showdown, and of course BTA. they have a lot more but they all seem too mild and boring for my taste. either that or the singing just annoys me. as for facedown, i haven't really heard of any bands from there except fot Impending Doom, but they signed into a different record company.

can't stand ID either ... the first LP is just too bad even though there are a few nice ideas .. but overall the songs sound all the same bad way of Death/Grind .. buargh. and the rest hasn't interested me ... I don't have anything against clean vocals but yeah, most of the bands which use them on SS don't do them well ... too whimpery or whiny (yaya, the old dead horse is ridden again)... whatever, there is enough well done music out there which I enjoy so I don't want to complain about SS or FD bands skully: do you know The Famine and Living Sacrifice? What about ZAO? Spoken? Beloved? The Chariot (which are now on Good Fight Entertainment^^)?

I forgot about Showdown, I really liked the backbreaker album, the other two not so much. The Chariot I can't listen to without getting a headache, not because I think they're bad, but because I can't stand chaotic sounding music.

@althorian: don't know why you put "can't stand ID either" because i actually love ID (mostly for it's heaviness but if i wanted some melody then i'd listen to something else). i've heard like one song from The Famine and Living Sacrifice but not enough to really say wether i like them or not. as for the rest, never listened to their music. i generally listen to extremely heavy death metal like Disfiguring the Goddess, Whitechapel, etc. so i most likely would even listen to those other bands you mentioned. hell i can't even stand listening to As I Lay Dying for a long time...maybe three songs at the most before i get too annoyed

@zaoman: i'm a fairly new fan of The Showdown but the only album of theirs i can't stand is their "Chorus of Obliteration" album (with an exception of 3 songs). i don't know why but david's singing on that album sounds more like some mediocre screamo singing

Ok, skully, classic christian Death metal/unblack metal bands to listen to: Extol (the Burial, and Undecieved albums), Mortification, Antestor, Horde, Slechtvalk, Living Sacrifice (particularly Inhabit, and Non-Existant), Outside of those there's not much more in the christian genre to find, but you and everyone in the world really should listen to zao, especially since without them metal wouldn't sound like it does now.

Before anybody goes out and buys all of the Mortification they can get their hands on, know that the first three are all you really need. After PMA, Steve became nothing more than a trend-jumper when it came to music.

I really liked the last one they came out with. Nothing tops the scrolls though.

Another Christian death metal band no one has mentioned is With Blood Comes Clensing. I thought they were terrible, but I thought I'd mention them since I also thought Mortification was terrible and other people seem to like them. I totally intend to check out some more of these bands, but I'm having computer problems making it not respond except in safe mode and the sound doesn't work in safe mode.
