So, over on the Facebook event page, Count Seth promised to do a Q&A. I had a yes ruin rattling around in my brain, so I'll go ahead and create the thread.
So Seth, is the description of touring found in the song "Superpowers" by Five Iron Frenzy more or less exactly correct?
I'll take the answer off the air.

Sorry guys and gals, I would've created this thread myself earlier, but I had to battle the login bog monsters and since I live on the West Coast, I woke up later than probably most of you.

Haha! Great song. It's different for every band. I remember Josh Scoggin talking about how he never showered on tour and wore it as a badge of honor. Having toured 3 weeks with The Chariot in Europe, I can say he was telling the truth. The thing is, it's unnecessary to live that way. We often connected with people at the show and found host homes that would give us a place to sleep, a shower, and often even some breakfast or something. Since we didn't have money for hotel rooms and it sucked to sleep in the van, this was a great way to go about touring life. We were never as gross as some of the things Reese describes in that song. Having also toured with FIF as the fill-in guitarist for Micah in 2013 (in support of Reel Big Fish and right before the new album came out), I can say that FIF is a little more messy than Jason ever allowed BTA to be (he had some slightly OCD tendencies back in the day, haha). But since the FIF peeps are older and family people now, they're a lot cleaner on the road than they were in the 90s when the song was written. Does that answer your question? If I fail to answer someone's question appropriately, feel free to clarify and I'll divulge more info. If I can...

Hmm... is BTA still alive??? That depends on your definition of "alive." The band never officially disbanded. We are still banded, so to speak. We've been on unofficial hiatus for 25 months now and there will likely be something else BTA to happen between now and our inevitable deaths. How's that?

I wish I could have seen that. Did you get to play "Where is Micah?"

Do you have any non-BTA musical projects that are active? Any song ideas kicking around for the eventual reunion? What's the rest of the original lineup up to?

Looking forward to whatever that next BTA "something" is! No worries. Yay for another west-coaster. I almost said Left Coast, but that's too 90's punk I suppose. Haha yeah we're metal here so maybe it should be "the desolate shores of the Pacific deep" or something.

The band has some particular differences about song selection and worldview, so the set list was chosen very carefully.

Do you have any non-BTA musical projects that are active? Any song ideas kicking around for the eventual reunion? What's the rest of the original lineup up to? I have Anchors going, not as a band, but as a sort of solo project. I released a single I recorded myself earlier this year. I have another single recorded, but I'm not sure how I want to go about releasing it yet. I'm working on basic riffs for another BTA album, but a new BTA album is being progressed toward veeeeeeeeeeery slowly. I work at an ELCA church while working on my mDiv at George Fox Seminary in Portland. Jason is doing non profit work with a few different organizations. Jon is working for an appliance company. Duck works at a micro brewery/bar I believe. Sean has meetings with other conspiracy-theorists?

Will the next BTA album be a cover album? I wish. We talked about doing a cover of The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks back in 2009, but Duck nixed it We've talked about doing a "How Great Thou Art" style cover of hymns for a whole album. That could conceivably happen but I wouldn't count on it. Other than that, no, there's been no talks of a cover album. It's unlikely. Recording another album at all will be a long, tedious process considering the way everything sits right now (and for the foreseeable future) with all of the present and former members.
