Whats up guys! Lets talk about it...
We are in the beginning stages of writing for our 3rd album. At this point we have a couple of rough songs and a growing catalog of riff ideas. I have started writing some lyrics but what Ive got is still a long way from being finished.
Anywho...unlike most of the frontmen for the bands you listen to I am here to talk to you guys about what you really want from the next BTA album. Let me start the discussion by giving you my impression of what the average BTA fan is looking for on our next cd. (Aside from more of the same prog/death metal that you have come to expect from the band).
1. Longer songs 2. Less thrash 3. More "heavy" sections 4. At least a couple of TD style "breakdowns" 5. More traditional metal vocals w/ more low and high variation
Alright, so its your turn...tell me what you are thinkin. Just be mature about it. =)

I personaly would like to see more black metal riffs Like in Immolaton (even without this I will still be happy). Other than that I think it sounds like it will be awesome.

Variation in the vocals, especially with lows, sounds great.
Maybe some more acoustic/classical guitar sections like on Into Oblivion.
Generally, the proggier the better.
Keep the clean vocals, but continue to use sparingly, to offset and contrast the growls.
If you are going to have a CD with less than 12 regular length songs (3-6 mins) or 9 long songs (6+ mins) then please don't make any 1-2 minute filler tracks. They can be good segues or good to build the right atmosphere, but only after you already have a full CDs worth of material.
Variation and technicality, creativity and progress. All sound great.
But most of all, make music that you enjoy and will feel proud of. If you do that, then I will be happy to buy and listen to it however it turns out.

Sounds sweet. I also agree with Chris when he said: But most of all, make music that you enjoy and will feel proud of. If you do that, then I will be happy to buy and listen to it however it turns out.

A bass solo or two would be awesome.
Haha, that was my favorite part of One Man Parade.
I also agree with Chris and Radar.
EDIT: Guest vocals are always nice too.

I love both of the cds you guys made, but I'm very happy that you're tossing in a few throwbacks to the Terminate era. I'm very hopeful for the new album. Please don't do what DH did for Storm the Gates of Hell and do a couple cool intros to a few songs and then make the songs boring. I know I don't have to worry about that. Looks good, keep us posted!

the massive/brutal production that you had on TD... so pretty much just get the same guy that produced TD to produce the next one as well ....for real, that made everything sound ten times heavier then it actually was... it was amazing and just epic... (and I agree 100% with the list of 5 things that you (wisdom) listed)

Ditch breakdowns, period
Epic, melodic solos, like at the end of Construct and Collapse
Guest spots from like, Crimson Moonlight or something anyone not associated with a metalcore band would work
No more haircuts
Cover some old school Living Sacrifice

Chris I basically agree with all of this, although I gotta say I loved Denouncement(this is what my iTunes has it named as,but I think the CD says otherwise).I really loved that song, and that was only about a minute and a half or so.I don't mind a short song like that in there as long as its good. The death metal elements should be brutal/heavy/kick-awesome and the prog parts should be epic, which they have been on the last two albums.Write the music you guys wanna write and I'm sure it'll be awesome.

Some more developed key/guitar sections.
Umm...that's about it, as far as things that haven't been said go. Maybe some more odd-time passages.

100% second what you said and in addition More complex bass lines, the bass in TD was amazing. I don't know if it was the mixing or what but the lines were less awesome in TPOF I love the long melodic solos in TPOF, but mixed with those some "shreddier" just ridiculously fast riffs would be amazing (like the intro on Beyond Adaptation). Even more awesome then that would be some kind of solo duel between Alex and Seth. Then again my mind and my radio would probably implode from the pure brootalness. I think if Alex sung over some of the harder parts of the songs, instead of just the soft bits it could be really awesome too, he easily has the voice to do it, and maybe even we could hear your clean voice Wisdom? Lol, I think the only one I diddn't pick on was Duck. Man, I don't think I could anymore excited about this next album! I'm like quivering, in a good way. I think green would be a good color for the album art. I think i'm/tired rambling. So excited....

more brutal, more varied vocals.
more epic parts with keys, (or hey, and actual orchastra!), much more acoustic parts( that part made into oblivion)
really epic lyrics. stuff like you did in epoch of war, stuff about battles or strugles like that.
longer songs would be good. an interlude in like every song. good long ones with many peices. like Opeth deliverance, how it was super simple and they kept adding
if you have the money, get seagrave or someone like that to do the art.
in my opinion, no break downs.

i agree... as long as they are not over done, they are pretty much always good. It just adds to the heaviness of the song
