if God didnt want us to eat meat, why did He make them out of meat?! Uh... what? That's pretty backwards. Just because we define something as meat, doesn't mean that God made it to be that way. It's kind of like saying God must have designed noses so that we could wear glasses (to paraphrase Leibniz).

The way I've heard that phrase is like this:
"If God didn't want us to eat animals, then why did He make them out of meat?"
It makes a little more sense that way... I think.

Did God make them out of meat? Or did we invent the term 'meat'? However you phrase it, that notion is still very backwards. It's like saying, 'If God didn't want us to do cocaine, he wouldn't have put it in the coca plant.' Humans are made out of meat too. It's just illegal to eat another human. I'm still a meat-eater (going veg next year), and I am not morally opposed to the consumption of meat, but I just can't stand it when people try to downplay what meat is, and try to establish some sort of entitlement. When you eat meat, you eat an animal that was killed. If you accept that, and you're fine with that, then cool. If you find that idea unsettling and you'd prefer to call your food 'pork' or 'beef' or 'meat' to avoid thinking about the fact that you're eating a killed animal, then maybe you should do some more thinking.

I have no problem killing an animal and eating it. I don't call it "meat" to avoid thinking about that fact. I call it "meat" because it's shorter than "dead animal flesh". I think you're reading a little too far into the phrase. It's just a little joke.

I didn't see it being used as a joke, though I definitely could have misread things.

Does that mean I can't have anymore burgers?
