What would you rather go to a show for, a headliner you love with some bands you don't like/can stand (or have never heard of) or a group of artists (2-4) that you like a lot, but not as much as the headliner of the other show?
I would rather pick the first choice, as evidenced by the fact that I'm going to see Thursday, Circa Survive, My American Heart and Pistolita but am mainly going for Thursday. I like Circa Survive and Pistolita, but not so much MAH (from what I've heard.)
I didn't know whether to put this in music or tours, so I put it here.

Based on your predicament, I would say go.
And yes the first choice is good.

I would go to any show if BTA were in it, headliner or not. Just like that one tour that I don't care to name (the one with Himsa). I didn't like any of the other bands, and left after a few songs from Himsa because FAVIOOOOOO!!!!'s mom picked us up. And I didn't like the band (Himsa) that much.

In general I pick the second choice. There would be exceptions of course, but in general I think I'd prefer to see a bunch of bands that I like rather than just one band I really really love.
One part of it is the fact that I don't generally like seeing bands when they headline. It gets too crowded for my comfort level. And you know, it's not the crowd that's the bad part, but it's the fact that, since everyone is there to see that band, everyone is trying to get up front and it becomes a fight to stay at the front, and I don't end up enjoying it. That's what happened at Protest the Hero.

Dude...even if you don't care for Lacuna Coil it'll be worth it just to watch Cristina Scabbia dance around the stage. As for the main question it depends on the headliner and how many times I've seen them. If I love the one headliner but had seen them 3 or 4 times already and the other concert had bands I liked but had never seen I'd do that one. There are exceptions of course: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Megadeth, In Flames, Blind Guardian, Dream Theater and Black Sabbath will ALWAYS take precedence over other bands no matter how many times I've seen them.

phillip. i couldnt agree more. that show would have sucked if bta wasnt there.im glad that FAVIOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!s mom picked you up.that show reminded me that i dont need to go to any secular show anymore.music was created to worship God and if the bands arent christian i really have no interest in them. if the situation arises again i will arrive late and see the band i want to and then ill call FAVIOOOOOOO!!!!!s mom.
