I think things would be a lot better if the stock market didn't exist...

I think things would be a lot better if the stock market didn't exist... But then it would be a form of communism in a way.

If it were the government that got rid of it, without the consent of the people.
I just hate the thought of an economy where prices are determined by people who are neither buyer nor seller.

I'm just laughing at how the DJI hasn't managed to peak 8,500 since King Obama got elected (having it drop below 9,000 was considered a bad thing about a year and a half ago).
America is currently an oligarchy. The only people that hold national public offices are the aristocrats of society. We've had black senators, women senators, homosexual senators, but we still don't have any poor senators.
I would describe the early church more as socialists than communists. They operated as a community, however they didn't redistribute their paychecks to ensure everybody got an equal share.
I do an awful lot of arguing against Marxists, but mostly I find that they're claiming to be such because it annoys their parents and impresses their college professors. Half of my college professors have lost most of their braincells to cannabis and worse, and I don't consider them worth the time and effort to flatter. I've never met a Marxist that can explain to me how to create a perfect communal form of government on a large scale adjusting for all forms of corruption and violence. Socialism can be effectively practiced on a small scale, as the early church demonstrated.

^ That's why I said "Ideally".
On paper, Communism works great. In practice, it sucks because human nature is far too corrupt for it to ever work properly.
