Jon. Yet, Alex is still by all means an amazingly talented guitarist.

Jon may have incredible riffs. but Alex does as well, your all also forgetting that BTA has moved together as band and I bet you if Alex would stayed with BTA this album would still be just as "great" from a song writing perspective there's about a handful of the ones on the new album that are incredible and there's a handful that are far from... same with TPOF and their first.
Each guitarist is incredible in their own way and for someone to say that one is better then the other is being incredibly incredibly stupid and so VERY ignorant. You simply CANNOT compare two guitarist of that Stature. point blank they both could OBLITERATE, DESTROY and SET YOUR REMAINS ABLAZE with the simple blink of an eye, purely with their incredible skill, talent and love for the god that gave that to them. dumb... I cannot believe that this thread was posted in the face of all Metal Heads and Metal as whole, its a disgrace to BTA, ALETHEIAN and to both Jon AND Alex. the most UN-METAL thing I've read to date... incredible....

DUDE you just dissed the ENTIRE band saying that Jon or Alex had total input YOU JUST PUT DOWN THE ENTIRE REST OF THE BAND I cannot believe someone would do that to a band... you obviously don't know much about what it takes to be in a band and what it takes to write successful songs. and what you said is true accept for the "they all sounded the same" part. Have ever heard anything from alex? you want to talk about passion? you don't know or appreciate Alex, you don't know or appreciate his music because if you were looking for passion you would find it there.
I'm afraid your also getting confused about that "feeling" of passion with the way an album is recorded and if you don't know what that means, I completely discredit anything you have to say.

Eh, either way you go, you'd have a great band.
I like Jon's solos better. But then again, I hear some parts on the new record where Alex's vocals would have been nice.

I prefer Alex's style, but to compare talent is futile, imo.
