Ha... as my father always points out... "The problem is that those who cry out against intolerance are intolerant of those who are intolerant." I agree, Patrick... that's why it should be obvious for a Christian that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12) The world is fighting to maintain it's course in depravity, and anything that wants to get in the way (Christians) are going to catch some flak. Good point. The bizarre thing though is that a lot of people honestly believe these lies. They think that being a Christian or being Conservative makes a person a hater. It's bizarre because I have sought out friends with the least amount of hatred, and I've always found it to be Christians, even while I was sick of being one. It's true that many Christians seem ignorant about the stuff some other people go through, but as soon as they gain understanding, there's rarely any hatred to be found.

If you haven't read it, you guys ought to read 'A Practical View of Christianity' by William Wilberforce. Talk about a guy who takes Christianity into politics...

The problem with the government is that we have expanded far beyond the original provisions in the Constitution. The government has the responsibility and the rights ONLY to do what the preamble provides.
What this tells us is that the federal government has 4 and only 4 responsibilities.
To establish justice: Create a judicial system capable of administering justice to all citizens from all states fairly.
To ensure domestic tranquility: To work to promote trade and good will between states and communities and ensure the fairness of inter-state trade (definitely NOT jumping into industries and picking favorites)
Provide for the common defense: To maintain an organized military for both foreign and domestic action.
Promote the general welfare: To provide for the citizens in times of great need such as natural disasters and famines.
When the government does these things and these things only, we will have secured the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity. Unfortunately, most people in Washington are unfamiliar with these concepts.
It has been said that the government that robs from Peter to give to Paul will always have the support of Paul. Our government is actively engaged in regulating and policing everybody's life. The majority signed away their rights for convenience when they stopped electing strict Constitutionalists.
