The Cell is pretty cool. Have you seen The Fall? Directed by the same guy and absolutely beautiful. He's also making a flick that's probably going to be what the remake of Clash of the Titans wanted to be. I forget what it's called because they keep changing the name but it's going to be good I have a feeling...

I watched Dark City, but wasn't very satisfied. I was waiting for it to be eventually linked into the real world or something. But turns out its not meant to make any sense at all.

Al - what didn't make sense?
Solid - dude, I've been looking forward to that movie for a really long time. Have you seen Malick's other films (Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line [remake], and The New World)? They are all absolutely beautiful. As for The Tree of Life, I remember reading something about it probably a year or so ago that it had something to do with time travel or imortality or something. I have no doubt it will be WAY better than Aronofsky's pretty but otherwise terrible The Fountain. We shall see!

It seemed to start a lot of mysteries that I didn't think were resolved, or unless I missed something or misunderstood:
- Why are there fingerprints everywhere? - Whats the significance of spirals? - Why are they in space? - Where is earth? - Why do the alien people have control over humans sleep? - Why wasn't the guy who commited suicide able to tune, but the main guy is? - WTF?

- Why are there fingerprints everywhere? Hmm? It's been a little while since I've seen it but I don't remember there being a whole lot of finger prints other than the main guy's spiral ones.
- Whats the significance of spirals? Probably just an artsy way of symbolizing the humans' plight.
- Why are they in space? Where else are the aliens going to make an entire city for their little science experiment?
- Where is earth? It's irrelevant!
- Why do the alien people have control over humans sleep? They're aliens with the power to tune which apparently includes inducing sleep. They got special powers man!
- Why wasn't the guy who commited suicide able to tune, but the main guy is? He's not special. The main guy was a step above the rest of the humans, evolutionarily speaking I guess. Waking up in the middle of tuning isn't what makes you special.
- WTF? Haha who cares? It's a fun movie!

Ikiru is one of my favorite movies! You don't (often) go wrong with Kurosawa.

Hey look who it is! Been a while dude; nice to see you 'round these parts again.
Back on topic... saw the first Pirates movie and wasn't too impressed. I've avoided the rest of the bunch. I've still been on a Dario Argento kick - seen most of his work now. My favorites are "Opera," "Suspiria," and "Phenomena." They're all totally campy and not that well acted but still so much fun. Anyone else a fan?
