Recently got into these guys. Victor Griffin's (Pentagram, Death Row) band after he got saved. Traditional doom metal of very high quality. Any other fans here? www.myspace.com/placeofskullsdoom

Place Of Skulls is great. Got one of their albums, can't remember which one right now though.

I have their latest three albums - am only missing their first album "Nailed" and "Love Through Blood" ep. I think either "The Black is Never Far" or "As a Dog Returns" would be a good starting point if you're just getting into the band. They have great lyrics too.

I thought it was interesting that Wino played in this band.

Yeah but only on the "With Vision" album which isn't bad by any means, but isn't as awesome as Place of Skulls' other stuff IMO. Still need to give it more listens to really say though. It is interesting that he'd be a part of such a clearly Christian band but I guess he and Victor Griffin are old pals.

Just ordered their extremely rare EP "Love Through Blood" and Victor Griffin's solo album. Can't wait until they arrive! Still searching for "Nailed" though...
EDIT: I emailed DMD and James had one copy left (which wasn't on the website) which he sold to me! Yay! Dang, I lucked out with both "Love Through Blood" and "Nailed" as those are pretty hard to come by these days, particularly the former.
This is my first foray into traditional doom metal. Anyone know of any other good bands of that style (with non anti-Christian lyrics)? I really like Solitude Aeturnus but Mr. Lowe isn't a fan of Christianity... I hear Trouble is pretty good.

They are alright but I would rather just listen to Pentagram.

If y'all like Place of Skulls, I'd definitely check out Under The Sun. They have one album out that was released in 2010 titled "Man of Sorrow." It's good stuff.
