Ok, I don't know about you, but I have had so many people bug me about this movie. "You have to see this." "It's so beautiful." "It's my favorite movie" "*slap* Why haven't you seen it?" So I finally saw it, and my opinion is...it was okay, I would have loved it more if they had a little less singing...kinda got on my nerves. What do ya'll think?

Well, there are so many versions of the Phantom of the Opera. This one was based off the Broadway musical, from what I remember. I got to see it on Broadway back in late 1990. I enjoyed it then. I prefer the old silent version back in 1925 with Lon Chaney. Something very classic about that. I have yet to see this latest movie version of it, but from what I have heard, it wasn't all that.

Ya, I like the old black and white version better. The phantom was much more scary.

I haven't seen the movie, but already from the trailers I know that it won't be nearly as good as the original music. The central problem with the film is that the (presumably) emotional scenes are shot in closeup, which makes sense for most films. However, the closeup portrait of the phantom then makes the phantom's presence overbearing; originally, he was intended to be an enigmatic character whose presence was minimal.
