Oh, it's been interesting allright. I have my viewpoints about that thread but I'll be nice and not state them here. I was baptized as a baby but have never done the believer's baptism since coming back to God. I've had a couple times where I felt the urge but then realized I wasn't doing it out of faith but obligation. I guess that was a hint of legalism coming out in me. same here...i was baptpized when i was younger too before i even knew what salvation meant....now that i know i want to be baptized and i was actually supposed to get baptized on sunday but it snowed so church was canceled and stuff....but it's all God's will.

ok... i'll throw in my two cents.
no... baptism is not necessary for salvation... (the saved by grace bit.. i don't feel like i need to rehash what's already been said totally)... it IS however a public profession of your faith. i believe that it is something that (if you are going to do it) should be done when you are old enough to know what you are doing. there is also a lot of symbolism involved with it.
there is the death to self and sin and the resurrection of a new spiritual person in Christ. (at least by the immersion method... which is what i personally believe... )
that keeps it all fairly short and sweet. but then you come to another particular part.
what about ... if you've been baptised and left God ... maybe for a period of time and then come back? i was baptised when i was younger (12, i think... not sure) and then pretty much forgot about God (claiming agnosticism) all through high school.... it's been a bumpy path ever since and i have often considered rebaptism as a public profession of rededication...though i have never decided... because i KNOW that it's whats on your heart that counts.
what are your feelings on that?

Either way really. It IS what's in your heart that really counts to God. I guess it's really between you and God. Pray about it. I'll be prayin for you too if you want.

I'd shake your hand, but I can't. But I will welcome you to the family. You are in my prayers.
