what do you think of Christian bands touoring with secular bands???...i wanna hear some of your opinions and the opinion of wisdom as well...to me it's a difficult subject cause God commands us to preach His word all over the world....but then again we're commanded not to have anything to do with wickedness...the reason i'm saying this is because i personally hate it when some bands tour with non-christian and even some anti-christian bands....examples: blindside toured with lacuna coil underoath will tour with static lullaby, the used...and now with hopesfall......besides many other bands ....... i know i'm no one to judge but i want your opinions...and the fact that they'll tour with hopesfall bothers me a lot cause i have read their interviews and they talk about how they were a Christian band when they began with the other singer but now they just wanna play music...and they cuss a lot even using God's name in vain...i dont wanna sound like i'm better than them but does that bother you as well?

I have to say that I think Christian bands touring with non-Christian bands is good. Why? The Bible says for us to go into the world and save those who are lost, and it also does say do not become of the world. I have no problem with Christian touring with secular as long as the Christian band is not affected by the world. If they are being affected, they need stop and get things straight. I wouldn't go to a non-Christian band concert for one of my fave bands, but those who have no idea that the lyrics in the band's song may touch them will go. I see it as evangelism as long as the Christian band stays strong in the Lord.

Well, when I saw Stryper on that reunion tour they did in Atlanta, the band that opened up for them, I don't think were a Christian band. Sorry, I can't remember the name. But, it was at a club and the bar was opened for business. However, it was awesome to hear Michael Sweet do the prayer at the end of the show. And yes, it's the one that appears on the Stryper Live in America CD too.

personally.. i think that Christian bands SHOULD tour with non-Christian..
it's like churches... too many have gotten that whole inner-gazing thing downpat. my personal take on it is... churches were built for sinners not just the saints. i think that Christian music is the same way. you can always be a witness to someone else... just make sure you're not compromising your beliefs from hanging out with them... that's the biggest danger, i think.
we don't have a problem playing with the local bands around here.... some of them are good friends of ours, and they aren't Christian but have no problem with us praying at the beginning of every set, and saying something in the middle of the set... they know that's why we're up here... and maybe... somewhere deep God is working on them... that's why we're up there... in the hope that we reach someone.

Personally, I don't like it. When I go to a concert, especially when I take people with me, I'd like as much as possible to expose them to good Christian music (musically and lyrically and life-wise). I would much prefer all Christian bands...
Yet, I do believe music is a great ministry tool and many of my favorite bands are giving themsleves to that end. Which would tie in with what many of you have said, if you are going to bring healing, you have to go where the sick are. If a band takes the command to go and see that Christ has given them these tools to do so with, they must go and go wherever He will open that door.
I find it very sad that many bands slowly "go the way of the buffalo" to borrow an ironic euphemism from a band that's been on the forefront of the spiritual roller-coaster. When a Christian band tours, probably their biggest ministry points are going to be with the non-Christian bands that they are touring with, because those are the guys that they are going to be with day in and day out. Music can be very powerful, obviously we are all here to some degree because of the connection that we have found through music...
I pray for those bands that are rocking for and through Christ, that they would stay strong and deliver a strong dose to the spiritually dead. I love worshipping with bands that are living in the Lord, and we definately need that in our "scene".

my friend jeremy and i started a "ministry" where we hangout with bands (something I already do and my home is open to Christian bands),and take prayer requests from bands...some serious stuff has been confided in us.
So I would seriously suggest if youre at a show...pray with the bands, take requests and give them hugs.
You dont know how much it means to them and keeps them focus on Who gave them the gift that theyre up on stage with.

I try to do that...but I usually have to leave by then, but I'll do my best to make some time and do that.

I'll pray for band, those that are really trucking with the good news- that they'll keep the fire and integrity; and those that seem to be down that they'll surrender again to joy and obedience...but I've never thought of just going up to the band and praying or asking what they were praying for! That's awesome...duh, we are the body aren't we?There's no super powers given to bands on the road that sets them apart or above the need for the basic functions of the body...dang!

thnx for your opinions guys....i totally agree with solidstate...it's sad when you see Christians bands just playing to play and not for the ministry...i always keep bands in prayers but i will try to stay and pray with them more after shows...me , my brother and other friends actually prayed with kutless when we saw them live i think last year..it was neat...when i went to the solid state tour last year i got to hang out with some of the guys from the bands but mostly with underoath....i wish i would've prayed with them and stuff but most of the time we just talked about music and stuff, plus they were busy loading the equipment and stuff...i'm not gonna get into underoath here but there's just been some stuff about them lately that are bothering me...i'll make a thread about it on a diff category if you guys wanna reply...God bless

I love worshipping with bands that are living in the Lord, and we definately need that in our "scene". "Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord!" (Col 3) Good perspective. It's tough when there are christian and secular bands on the same bill. I think we need both kinds of tours. Ones that are "safe" so to speak, and ones that are a mission ground. A month ago, a local secular booking company booked a Christian Tour (Haste the day/Still Remains) a non-christian local, and a christian local/regional (New Day Awakening). So here you have a bill of 3 christian bands and one not... The non-christian band got on stage and every other word was an F-bomb. It was pretty lame. I definitely would have felt uncomfortable if I had brought certain people to that show. So I do think that Christian tours are a great thing. It's a place where you can go, rock out and not have to worry about trash flying off the stage. On the other hand... what brings the love to more people than a mixed tour? Often the bands become good friends, and the non-christian band is influenced by the faith of the Christians. It can change lives!
