Build a relationship with someone you want to witness to first. Don't just go up and start going "JESUS LOVES YA!"...that freaks out people and makes them run away, take my word for it. Just be friends with them, and when God tells you when the perfect time to witness is...go for it. And don't preach down their throat and all like "don't say that, you know where liars go" crap.

hey guys, im new, and a fan of becoming the archetype, keep on keeping on guys, but as to this, as solid state said, you dont want to get people on edge, a really effective way of witnessing, without getting to know them for like 2 years, is taking them through like three of the ten commandments, like have you ever lied - of course ,were all human, have you ever killed someone, well Chrsit said if you hate someone you have comitted murder in your heart, and have you ever lusted,, Christ also said that if you think it, youve already done it in your heart, by asking them these three simple questions, they realize their need for salvation, becasuse you just brought them to terms with themselves, then you can tell them that even though they broke only three tht that is worthy of hell, then you cann tell them that Christ loves them, and that He came and died for them, anyway give it a shot, i think youll see by convicting them, as Christ did, witnessing is almost 10 times more effective, God bless - caleb

Hmm, i think im gonna stir the pot a little bit. Did Paul get a chance to personally meet all the people he witnessed to?

I'm not sure. Can you give an example to the contrary?
I don't know the biblical specifics, but I do know that witnessing to someone after a relationship has been built is far more effective. I mean, think about it: if someone randomly approached you with a pamphlet about this new religion called ________, would you be inclined to believe them? Alternatively, if you have a friend who is part of _______, and he's a really great guy who is completely selfless and compassionate, wouldn't you be more open for dialogue about spiritual ideas?

Well, your right in that aspect, I do not enjoy pamphlets myself, but as I recal Jesus and Paul preached to large groups of people at a time.

Definitely, but I think that's far different from walking up to someone on the street and asking them 'Can I talk to you about Jesus?' Paul and Jesus spoke a lot about their faith relative to the religious/political context of their time (see Matthew 5, when Jesus does his 'It has been said that ____, but I tell you ___')
