Actually I don't think you're a jerk, I think you've presented your points very respectfully. The fact that neither of us has actually said anything about the other is really impressive given the fact that this is an internet forum.
Anyway, I think there's a lot of 'intepretation' in the above argument. You can also interpret an author as someone who wants to enlighten people and expand their minds through the use of fictional literature (Tolkien and Lewis are perfect examples), while a carpenter could easily turn into the greedy person you described, making design after design for IKEA so that he can become a millionaire.
Additionally, Jesus didn't spend his time tearing down every other religion, but rather the religion of the Jews as interpreted by the Pharisees. His problem was not in the traditions themselves; his problem was in the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and their immature understanding of the laws of God. As such, I don't think we should denounce othe religions, but rather we should denounce the hypocrisy seen in self-proclaimed practitioners of all world religions (including Christianity).

So basically, i'm not too sure on what you guys are arguing about. My opinion of this arguement is that it's pointless. Yes, even if this author who invented a religion has some credibility and could of possibly wrote something logical; as far as i'm concerned, it really doesn't matter. We know what he teaches is all about gathering and giving money to it; its false, though. He's misled. Maybe he made a religion and i dunno, I'm not going to give him any brownie points for that, it doesn't change the fact that this guy lacks the spirit that lives inside of each of us, that of Jesus Christ. So, basically our job is to tell him about it, not bicker about his background. It's useless, it doesn't get us anywhere. So, I'm not trying to critisize you guys, nor this author guy- i just wanted to give my two cents. I'm not choosing sides, i just don't understand why all this matters, and so i thought i'd give my opinion. Well, God Bless guys.

Yes, for the most part all of this was irrelevant. I'm pretty sure Jesus denounced all false religions, I'm so bad at giving scriptures that I can't give you any examples. Anyone can become greedy or remain sincere and do what they do for the benefit of others and for the sheer love of doing what they do. I like to propose hypothetical situations to argue certain points, it doesn't mean that that's what I completely believe, I simply mean that it is a possibilities. I find that it's important to consider everything when discussing almost anything. I am glad that this never turned into a childish name calling contest. Wether either of us has been right, this certainly has been a good debate, I say debate in place of argument because I don't want to bring in the negative conotation that that word normally carries. We have kept this as a simple point-counterpoint discussion, which is the best way for two disagreeing parties to discuss things. Since I don't see an end in sight to this, how about we call it a stalemate? Though if you wish to continue I'm game if you are.*
*strange, I've notice that I seem british over the internet, hmm.

Yeah, I'm fine with that. Man, I don't think I've ever participated in a 3-page debate that didn't end on bad terms. I guess there's a first for everything though
