i heard a story about, i cant rememer who, but my pastor told it in a message once, so he said that this guy, and for some reason i think it was C.H. Spurgeon, but im not sure, anyways he was sleeping and he heard some rustling in his room, so he wakes up and sees Satan standing at the foot of his bed, and he goes, "oh, it's just you" and he goes back to sleep. my dad told me that story. he told me it was about a guy named Wigglesworth, but he could have been mistaken. man, i wish i had some of the dreams/visions that you guys do. Look, being a prophet has its ups and downs. People either think you are like a god or just hate your guts. So I have to be careful with the visions I get. I tell people I trust first, then people who are more distant. News travels fast in my town. But one of the major downsides is this: sometimes you see stuff you never wanted to see. For instance, when I was still going out with my ex-girlfriend, I had a vision in which I saw her going into hell. I followed her in past the gates of hell itself. I never, ever want to see what happens in there again.

I do. I don't get arrogant about it or anything, or at least I try not to. Sorry if I sound stuck up.

no, its all right. i read this a while back and i've been chewing over it for a while (this is just an exert of a chapter over this subject)
1CO 14:36 Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command. 38 If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored.*
1CO 14:39 Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
all of chapter 14 is about prophecy and tongues.

freakin' sweet dream man... now, on the topic of metal being "the devil" I have a very strong opinion. both my mom and the guy that drives my friends and I around are both seriously against screaming. the guy that drives us around (a.k.a. Chris) heard BTA and said that the holy spirit told him not to listen to metal anymore. My point is on metal, unchristian metal is usually a major tool of Satan. Christian metal, on the other hand, is its exact opposite. Satan's not gonna use his tool for the work of Christ.
Luke 11:17-18 "Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: 'Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?' "

First of all, welcome to the boards. Second of all, how was what you said relevant to this topic? Not meaning to be rude. When I was new here I posted a pretty stupid few posts.

"My parents kind of think that metal is not the best form of music."
and
"From what i still remember of the dream, it took place at a hometown venue we frequently play at. And i remember hearing the voices of my bandmates, so I know they were the ones at my side. I'm not saying the people that go to our shows are demonically posessed people, but I believe the demons were supposed to represent the evil that does exist in the world."
i was replying to those 2. sorry if it was off-topic. i didnt mean for it to be...

Dudes... Phrophecy is communicating the Word of God like a preacher. Not having new revelations. We dont have the same kind of prophets like the old testament. Its the way the Bible was translated. They didnt use the right word. Im not trying to say that your dreams dont mean anything. Our dreams sometimes show what is happening in our lives. But dont take what you get in your dreams as some sort of command from God or anything. Like to make an ark cause the worlds gonna get flooded.

I think that you can still recieve visions today, so saying that he cant take things from his dreams, or visions as a command from God may be wrong, because i still believe God can communicate like that, and if He does, then he needs to obey that command.
But i think he meant prophet in the sense that God shows him things that are in the spiritual realm, not the physical one, things that most people havent seen. I dont think he meant he recieves instructions from God, or new revalations, or anything.
What do you mean by that?

i think he meant that we haven't translated the Bible exactly like it was originally in the Greek and Hebrew languages. although i have to argue that when when the word "prophet" is in the Bible it means "prophet". if you could find a certain passage where you think the word is used wrong then please post it. We dont have the same kind of prophets like the old testament. the two verses i posted earlier are out of the New Testament.

Dudes... Prophecy is communicating the Word of God like a preacher. Not having new revelations. We don't have the same kind of prophets like the old testament. You make some interesting and yet completely unfounded claims. Please supply evidence that prophecy is not alive and well among the Children of God. Do not be the tongue that silences the Mouths of God. And quite frankly I feel that I am a prophet in the Old Testament sense. Does this make me arrogant? No. It humbles me to think that Yahweh himself would deign to name me one of his Mouths, despite the vile creature that I am. I am not worthy of that. The Word of God is not dead. It is alive and evolving still, becoming even more perfect. It does not need to be written to be true. The Bible was written by prophets and men who knew the Lord well (no offense to any woman who may have written a book in the Good Book. There could have been one.) And why should Yahweh stop speaking to his servants? Surely there is more he wants to tell us. Surely there is more he wishes to reveal. He pledged to speak to us again at the end of Time. I am but one among many Mouths, not the least and not the greatest. In case you think I'm angry with you, I'm not. I like (healthy) debate and discussion.

i believe the Word of God already is perfect. Do you? and if so, how can it become more perfect?
and i agree with this:

Many people believe that the things that are perfect do not change, and that in the changing they become imperfect. True perfection changes and only becomes more perfect. The Word of God is a living thing. Living things evolve. This is a fact. Perfect things are alive. The Word of God, by evolving, becomes more perfect, more pure, more able to point us to Yahweh. I do not demand that anyone agrees with me. It is enough to know Yahweh.
