i am just having a hard time grasping the concept of true perfection becoming more perfect. Because something that is perfect has no flaws at all, i dont understand how something with 0 flaws can become more perfect than that. God is perfect in all His ways, and He never changes, or becomes more perfect. To become more perfect indicates that it was never perfect in the first place, there is nothing more perfect, or higher, than perfect.
I also notice how you always say yahweh, why is that? everyone else just says God. Just wondering.

i think Yahweh means "God with us". i've also noticed that Matisyahu and Aaron Weiss (mewithoutYou) spell God "G-D" (and no, not God d**m ) just like that, like they aren't even worthy to type his name. --------- man, i had a weird dream last night.

thats cool! I know when people were translating the Bible, or something, i cant remember, but they would clean themselves very thouroughly, and use a new pen and then change their clothes, and then write the name of God and then do it all over again before continuing. i think thats how it went.

God is perfect in all His ways, and He never changes, or becomes more perfect. To become more perfect indicates that it was never perfect in the first place, there is nothing more perfect, or higher, than perfect. No, Yahweh is perfect. I completely agree with you there, don't get me wrong. He has no flaws. But he is truly a mystery. If he becomes yet more perfect with each passing moment, how can I but love him more? And the only thing higher than perfect is perfect. Perfection is not even the absence of flaws, or rather it is, but it is far more than that. Once again, I don't demand that my way is the right way. And I'm glad you are debating this with me. I like Yahweh better. I also call him Sabaoth, but since almost nobody else knows that name, I just call him that in private. I thought Emmanuel meant "God with us." Although the Hebrew word for God was Yah, so you may be right.

I thought Emmanuel meant "God with us." my bad, your right. i asked my mom and she looked it up in a Bible dictionary we own and Yahweh means (it's long definition, so i'll try to paraphrase): it's pretty confusing, since the word originated from Hebrew. from what i gather, it means 'the Lord'. in the original Hebrew text they would write YHWH but would substitute the word donay (my Lord) when reading aloud because they thought Yahweh was too sacred to pronounce. it later became the word Jehovah. strictly speaking, Yahweh is the only 'name' of God. it is a proper noun and presents God as a real person. in the Old Testament it signifies a real personality of God.

Many people believe that the things that are perfect do not change, and that in the changing they become imperfect. True perfection changes and only becomes more perfect. The Word of God is a living thing. Living things evolve. This is a fact. Perfect things are alive. The Word of God, by evolving, becomes more perfect, more pure, more able to point us to Yahweh. I do not demand that anyone agrees with me. It is enough to know Yahweh. The Bible cannot change. It is steadfast. The world changes and so do we, but the Word of God is not going to get better. The Word of God is completely holy. It cant get more holy or reach a higher perfection. That is getting into Gnosticism. There is nothing more holy or more perfect than God. So how could God's Word get holier and more perfect? Yeah i guess God will become more perfect in our eyes as we grow spiritually and we see ourselves as more and more sinful as se realize our fallenness even more. (man that was a long sentence). But that is scritly in OUR eyes. God and His Word are not changing, we are. We are becoming more conformed to His Word if we are truly saved. It also says in revelation that nobody can add or take away from scripture. And if you are saying that you can (i cant quite tell where you are going), then you are getting into heresy. I dont want to sound angry cause im really not, but if you are going against Scripture... And about revelations... God can speak to you through His Word and through His Spirit living in you. God is not communicating to people today more Scripture to add to the Bible.

HEB 13:7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
JN 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
therefore... the Bible/God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
and the verse metalkeyboards was talking about: REV 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Alright, I'm not too proud to admit where I'm wrong. You've shown me verses, and I recant my statements. Thank you.

I'd like to say something on the topic of metal being satan's music. It's true that the people preceeding us have used metal as a tool for dishonoring God, but just as we are not to judge people on their ancestors' actions, I believe that it's wrong to judge people based on the type of music they like to play or listen to. And if there was ever a type of music that satan would return to, I can guaruntee you it wouldn't be metal. Why would satan chose the most obscure genre of music today to reach his prey? No, if there was ever a genre, it would be "pop" music. All the filth we see on television and hear on the radio, that's satan at work. For not only is it dishonoring, but it reaches an exponentially greater amount of people than metal would. Satan is hiding his work in these pop songs promoting promiscuous sex, in the disgusting rap music that our youthful peers are so infatuated with, this is what satan is working through. We need to realize that as people who like metal, we're going to have preconcieved notions about us, and that as Christians we need to deal with that in stride; understand that the person is not entirely wrong to have that sort of reaction towards you, it's merely a defense mechanism. Our band's been called satanic by the head pastor of a church we were going to play in, and that's something thats stuck with us for a while...So yea, that's what I wanted to say.

You're absolutely right! The pop music nowadays is terrible! Then again, us metal-heads have a bit of a bias... Oh, back to the original topic, I had another dream of spiritual warfare. However this one was different. In my dream I was dreaming, and I can't remember what happened, but I know that a demon was attacking me as I was in my bed. Then I awoke from my dream and I felt Satan attacking me in my bed. Keep in mind I'm still actually dreaming at this point, but in my dream I had just awoke from my dream (I'm trying to clarify things not confuse you...). I felt a thousand hands pushing me down and grabbing at me all at the same time. That night at a leaders meeting for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship we had talked about authority, and I guess that stuck with me for I was pleading "go away, go away" but Satan would not listen, then all of the sudden this authority boiled up inside of me and I yelled "GO AWAY!!!" and he was gone. Soon after that I really awoke. It was a strange dream. -Kerrick
