Weep with Me
I once pledged my sword The blood that dwells in me The strength of my spirit To protect her… In shame I wept ‘neath the moon Bleed out the grief, bleed it all out Secure in the knowledge Nothing can spare me these tears Failure is my food I sit at an altar, the chalice in my hands I drink of it It contains my own sweet blood Moss embraces the roots Trees observe my puckered skin The evidence of plagues brought against me.
-
Ravens gossip in the trees They behold the decay in me They await my coming weakness Then they shall peck the strength from me And leave me bare upon the barrows Like the hounds they set on me The grief of ten thousand years gnaws my bones Bleak as my sightless eyes in this place Sores envelop my flesh I lament the day I first set eyes upon her fire And yet, it was a shining day I watched the stars fall from her eyes When we spoke our farewells.
I wrote this after crying my eyes out for a friend who's leaving. Today was my last day with her this year. Ye gods, it was hard...
