I'm going to presume I saw the same as Dave, as I know my list of different isn't large.
thursday:
conquest of steel - i hadn't yet woken up. after dave repeated each joke, i chuckled.
friday:
evile - yay, moshpit. and headbanging. was fun.
praying mantis - i think I sat down for most of these. They weren't particularly interesting.
tyr -
I really like these, and I was right down the front. It was fun, apart from the drunk metalheads who thought they could get something.
destruction - Funny attempt at blasphemy. Otherwise, perfectly listenable but not particularly stand-out for me.
primal fear - I don't really remember what these were like. So I was either wandering around spending too much on music or sitting down and dozing.
helloween - Pretty good. Not really my kinda thing, but it was fun.
opeth - I was going to only put two words in this review. But Dave already pulled that trick. Flipping amazing. Flipping wow. They were actually incredible. I got really really lost in the music, because it was just SO good. I was probably somewhere around the asteroid belt I was that out of it after the set. Lots of the more melodic stuff, which is perfect from my point of view. Plus, Mikael Akerfelt is funny. Apparently. I was lost in my own little world for too long.
saturday:
evil scarecrow - Very very funny. I prefer this kind of music when they don't take themselves seriously, as I find corpse paint hilarious.
cloudscape - ditto to dave.
rise to remains - The clean vocals are still haunting me. They were disgusting. Really really out of tune. I'm sure the band were good, but those vocals. Ouch.
eluveitie - YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! these were fantastic (again, apart from drunk, half naked guys coming onto me) and i was right near the front. and it was amazing. and i headbanged to a hurdy gurdy. and i WANT a hurdy gurdy.
swallow the sun - i didn't see much of this. because I WAS MEETING ELUVEITIE AT THE TIME. I took the vinyl copies of slania that dave and I had bought over to the signing tent and went and met them and they were all like "wow! you have the vinyl! do you mind if we take a look? we've not seen it before!" and one of their guitarists is very pretty...
soilwork - more headbanging. it was fun.
iced earth - i think i sat down.
dimmu borgir - the only interesting bit was the fire, and even that wasn't great.
sunday:
heaven's basement - um... who were they?
crowning glory - did we go back to the tent?
alestorm - were fantastic. i want a keytar.
grand magus - didn't really stand out to me tbh.
necrosadistic goat torture - boring.
kataklysm - i don't think i saw much of this.
as i lay dying - what dave said.
overkill - i went back to the tent, and before i got back to see them, dave had started to come back having got bored. so no opinion.
at the gates - wow, they were pretty good.
nightwish - anette was out of tune, but i zoned out happily enough.
