I have a friend who's always sayin stuff like Ozzy's just a regular guy and saying Manson stuff, which in a way is true but wat bout their clear Satanism? On the other hand, Manson's writins are very insightful. Like he said If Hitler came out now, he'd have to be in music, cause it's so influential. And Ozzy's music, like on Crazy Train he says, Maybe it's not too late to learn to love and not to hate. And Ghandi, he he said stuff like, First they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. What do ya guys think all this means? Guys like Manson, Ozzy, and Ghandi, clearly not Christian, sayin stuff like that? Tell me wat ya think, guys.

This is a really good topic to start in my opinion. Whether most people see it or not, guys Manson are very very intelligent. Personally, I think the things they say are universal truths, which if you break down the term (yeah I know you guys prolly all know what it means, but bear with me, I have a point) universal means "Applicable or common to all purposes, conditions, or situations". Truth, of course, means "Reality; actuality; A statement proven to be or accepted as true." Together, the phrase means " a statement proven to be or accepted as true that is applicable or common to ALL purposes, conditions, or situations."
I've never been into Manson, no offense to anyone that likes his stuff, but I think Manson is clearly a very disturbed individual in some ways. Isn't he a Satanic "preacher"? I know that he DOES practice satanism.
Ozzy...well, I don't know much about Ozzy. My respect for him went up a level or two when I saw his reaction to Sharon's cancer. Clearly he loves his family. Props to Ozzy for that.
Ghandi, I think, was like, the master of universal truths. Some of his stuff is really really insightful. "Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." But see, I can take something like that particular quote, and put a Christian spin on it. Ghandi said that strength comes from our will. Who gave us that will? Who created us with that indomitable will?
Really good topic, I can't wait to read what everyone else thinks about this. Find the other thread where I showed some quotes by Manson, they could definitely apply here.

Heres my thoughts.
I take everything with a grain of salt.
I have friends who live and die by John MacArthur (primarily because they attend Calvary Chapel Bible College and if you dont bleed John you might as well not attend there),and a few others.
I got through one book on a guy who was raised in Punk Rock, and his dad is a well known Buddhist. He would then later turn to Buddhism to calm his punk rock lifetsyle. He now runs sort of a collective discussion between faiths...sorta like a lets learn from everyones religion deal.He would be the Jay Bakker of Buddhism.
Personally,I like hearing other peoples views on what God is to them.
But at the end of the day you have to go back to your Bible and what God is leading you to come up with.
Unfortunately, there are so many ways to make the Bible what you want it to say.Anyone can do it,and you dont really know who is right.
Thats sorta where the Holy Spirit/discernment/wisdom have to step in.

Keep em comin. This is interestin. Anyone heard about soime Muslims claiming Islam is a religion of peace. This seems contradictory to me, seeing as Mohammed started it by storming Mecca, one of their holy cities today. Plus, the Muslims are always the groups who do suicide bombs. Although, not all do; I had some Muslims in my neighbor up in Duluth, MN. They were normal, except the wife wore a shawl on her head like ya see women wearin in the old Bible films. But they were nice and kind.

every religion states it is a religion of peace.
but alot of bad things have been done in the name of God,country, and religion.
See but not limited to:
-Spanish Inquisition -The Holy Crusades -The Battle of the Boyne and various wars throughout Northern and Southern Ireland, where the people are still held captive under foreign rule.Where a county is divided by a wall much like in Germany.Catholics vs. Protestants. -Islamic Jihads -Hitler
Theres alot of stupid stuff done in the name of God and country, unfortunately.
For me I havent gotten around to reading the Koran...I went to youth group with a girl who was Muslim...whoah the conversations we had about her Christianity and her father.
Id suggest youd read some reputable apologetics.
The only thing Im safely versed in is Catholicism and Wicca.
