Then you're probably a faggot that thinks you're smarter and more groundbreaking than people who have put decades of study into something you apparently take so lightly

They are all the same church, just represented along national and/or cultural lines. The one I attend in Toledo is Antiochan and much of the chanting is done in both Arabic and English. "Oriental Orthodox" is a misleading term, referring to the churches that split away early on when they misunderstooddisagreed with the wording of the Council of Chalcedon and thus took a miaphysite stance.

I was under the impression that Orthodox and Catholicism were mostly the same thing, save that Orthodoxism doesn't recognize the pope?

f**k nondenominationalism If you're gonna follow an ideology, do it right That's why I'm non-denominationlist, I'm trying to follow an ideology. My ideology isn't some denominations doctrine, it's the bible. I was going for Protestantism, proper reformation protestantism, because of sola scriptura, but then the protestants screwed up and rather than having only the bible, as this motto claims, they got their own doctrine. If there's a denomination that really adheres the sola scriptura motto, I'm with them. I know their are a lot of congregations that do, but being in a denomination means you're with their doctrine, rather than just the bible. Wasn't it you, dear Shiv, that told people not to let themselves be told what to believe? Well, that's exactly what I'm doing by being non-denominational. Also, wisdom doesn't come with age, but from God. I don't care if somebody studied for years, or not, I care about what he says.

It's not a label, it's a doctrinal category. It is a label. Labeling yourself as a "Protestant" limits yourself to those doctrines. I don't understand why it's not a label... It seems to me that people put themselves under that label to express that they adhere to the doctrines. Kind of like how being a republican is a label, but you put yourself under that label to demonstrate your agenda. I guess it is a label at the end of the day, but it's a rightly placed label. Christians who reject authority of an orthodox clergy, and any doctrines they deem untrue from those authorities are protestant. What you call them doesn't matter, the word just describes what they are. Then you're probably a faggot that thinks you're smarter and more groundbreaking than people who have put decades of study into something you apparently take so lightly Damn straight. I can't believe how thick people are to not realize that all the bulls**t hundreds of denominations out there keep sprining up because some dumbass kid decides they're just gonna follow the Bible. SOMEBODY IS ALWAYS INTERPRETTING THE BOOK. It's inescapable. Unless you're a literal prophet, you are just reading the book and sorting it out in your mind. You become your own clergy, that doesn't make you any less fallible. On a related note:

However, it makes doctrine much more subjective and isn't nearly as good at giving broader perspective on things like worship, metanoia, etc. as Tradition.
