Why not? I think it's mostly his style of church/message that turns people off. I'm not much of a fan of the Mega-Church thing either: I like being in a close-knit community of believers. I agree that he doesn't preach about repentance/salvation much, but I like how he preaches practical messages which are Biblically sound about living a happy and fulfilled life. The Bible has relevant and practical messages about everyday life and a lot of people need to hear it in my opinion. A lot of people are searching for practical wisdom and the Bible is filled with it!
Like Jesus said in the Gospels, if a person can't even discern practical truth, how can he know anything about spiritual truth?

I'm a Christian Universalist, I see nothing wrong with his teachings, of course I'd prefer if he made people come to Christ, but as long as he's not speaking against Christianity, i see no problem.

Mormonism only gets wierd like that if you start going deep into its teachings. I firmly believe that the Book of Mormon is false doctrine, but becoming a Christian is simple. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe with your heart, then you will be saved. I'm sure many Mormons have confessed and believed in Jesus' sacrifice to cleanse them from their sins. If they put their faith in Christ, they are saved no matter what false doctrine they may believe.
Osteen also didn't claim to be a scholar on Mormonism. He was asked a simple question, and he answered to the best of his knowledge. I'm sure both of us don't even have close to perfect doctrine. I fully admit that I could be wrong about some things, and I'm always open to correction. But no matter where each of us may believe false things, we both have faith in Christ's sacrifice for us, and that is what matters. We're always learning and none of us have it perfect.

I'm a Christian Universalist, I'm a Born Again Fundemental Applogetic Liberal Mormonistic Baptised Christian belonging to the family of God. Me too, but I'd say I'm more of a Born Again Liberal Fundemental Appolgetic Zen Buddist Baptised Christian belonging to the family of Jesus P. Christ.
