I'm hoping people can give me their thoughts on what the lyrics of Artificial Immortality mean. I have attached a word for word copy of the lyrics out of the album cover. Is there anything on the subject from the band itself?
Technology will conquer, Biology will fall - Machines provide the means for the chosen few - To rise up and be "immortal" - Discard the body to elevate the intellect - Remove the head, remove the soul, implant the artificial - Remove the head, remove the soul, dehumanize... No! - Shake of the chains - The constraints of your mortality - This new evolution puts "perfection" within our grasp -Discard the body to elevate the intellect - Remove the head, remove the soul, implant the artificial - Remove the head, remove the soul, dehumanize... No! - I am not a mechanism - I am part of the resistance - I am an organism - An animal, a creature, I am a beast!
I do not own or have any rights to Becoming The Archetype music or lyrics.
Please and thankyou very much.

It doesn't mean anything.
It's just a song, bro.

*moves to BTA section instead of Band section, where it actually belongs* This song has a lot to do with the CS Lewis Space trilogy. I'd recommend reading it for a fuller understanding of all of the lyrics in this album. Also, welcome to the forums.

Read CS Lewis's sci-fi trilogy. My brother gave me that trilogy a couple of years ago, I'm not sure if it'll be a worthwhile read or not.

The song is really about the biological essence of man and how mankind is trying to isolate the mind and discard the body. We are biological creatures and a move toward machine-flesh integration is something we're mostly opposed to. It's obviously more complicated and nuanced than that, but I don't have the time or energy to get into it. Does that help?

We are biological creatures and a move toward machine-flesh integration is something we're mostly opposed to. What kind of machine-flesh integration? That sounds like something off of Star Trek. Do you mean the Government's talk of making it a law that everyone gets a microchip ID implanted in them?
