Hey everyone, it's been a while. How is everyone? I haven't been on ages and I thought I would pop up and see how things are. I was going to post this in DH is Wicca boards but, after logging it after like a year, I found the last post was made in March'ish. Lately, I have been missing the awesomeness that was the DH boards, looking through old files, pictures (the DH is Wicca goat for example), and just remembering the fun times we had. By now, those memories has since vanished to those who converted tot he Blessed Resistance. I hoping to spend a little more time on these boards so basically: "Hey, what's up" to all the old members and a "Nice to meet you' to all the new members.
I have been out of the metal scene lately but I am looking to pick up some new stuff. Any ideas? What are some recent bands that pop up? I can do my own research but I find just asking leads you to better results. I wouldn't be listening to half of the stuff if weren't for many of the members on DH and here.
I do not want to turn this into a "This is what I have been doing lately" but there is a core reason why I am making this post.
To sum it up:
- I came back from a 3 month long trip in Japan around August 13th.
- I graduated from college with a major in Asian Studies and a minor in Art History in December 2009.
- I started dating a Chinese girl around October but, as of right now, we are on a break. She is back in China now. We shall see how that goes.
- I have just been working at Target (as usual) since I graduated as well as doing various study projects.
However, more importantly, I will be moving out of the country on July 31st. I was accepted into a position as a English teacher for middle school/5th and 6th Graders for the Yatsushiro Board of Education in Japan. Basically, I will teach kids English in Japan lol. I will be living in the prefecture (state) of Kumamoto which is located on the most southern island that is part of the japan island chain.
Here is a map of that island:
Here is a map of Japan:
By the way, my prefecture (state) is the not the one highlighted in red. This is just a random map I found. Look for the name "KUMAMOTO".
My city is a middle-sized cityand is the second largest in terms of population however in terms of city size; it is the largest. It first was a castle town but then the city was built up around it. The castle as since been burned down in various wars and rebellions in the 1600's but there is a shrine there. I will be living in a apartment complex with other English teachers. I will teach 5th and 6th graders 2-3 times a week and then Junior High 2 times a week. This alternates though. My prefecture (state) is one the largest on the island of Kyushu, It has a lot of hot springs and also has the world's largest caldera, Mt. Aso. Just south of me is another volcano that is still active, Mr. Sakurajima.
My contract is for one year but I can extend it up to 5 years. I plan to stay 4-5 years unless I can secure another job in Japan or elsewhere. I will be leaving July 31st (21 days from now). I will be in Tokyo for 4 days for a mass orientation. Oh, the program that I am working for is the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme). It is the worlds largest exchange teaching program yet one of the most exclusive. 13 students from my college applied yet three of us were the only ones to have an interview. Consequently, the three of us got through the interviews and were selected as teachers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JET_Programme
I know some of these people on the BTA boards because of the DH forums and, frankly, is my only place to contact them again. If you do not know me, please do not respond with a "Who the f**k cares." Let's keep it civil :3
