I believe that all people are my neighbours and the extent to which I am a follower of Jesus is marked by the extent to which I act lovingly towards my neighbours.
I believe that the government is full of s**t, and no government certification can change how I am to treat my neighbours.

true true. and i mean do i think they should be treated to a lesser standard? no. they deserve to be here.... if they do it properly. i mean... not much good can come out of illegals coming into the states. and any good is canceled out by the bad 10 fold.

do you actually have REAL statistics? i dunno about the US, but the UK press was implying there were millions of illegals coming in, when actually the Red Cross has actual figures and it's something like a tenth of that number.

it all depends on your source. US boarder patrol says between 12 and 15 million, US census says 8.7ish, the Pew Hispanic Center says 11.5 to 12 million, and Bear Stearns researches say up to 20, so i guess it all depends on the source. either way, thats a whole lot of people.

I believe that we should endeavor to pressure Mexico to fix its corruption so that their country isn't so bad to live in. Also, for the South American countries, eliminating drug tycoons and forcing the government to work efficiently could make those places better to live as well. Illegal immigration isn't a problem to be solved by shooting, guarding, and discrimination. If it is fixed right, the effects will be good for everybody and we won't be facing the same problem in two years.

I think we should jump the border to mexico! That's part of the problem...... nobody wants to live there! That's why my plan to fix it will help reduce illegal immigration.

Illegal immigration isn't a problem to be solved by shooting, guarding, and discrimination. If it is fixed right, the effects will be good for everybody and we won't be facing the same problem in two years. That's exactly it. People who want to lock down the borders, coup up all the illegal immigrants and ship them off; those things won't solve the problem. The fundamental issue is that these people are living in absolute s**t conditions and - rightfully or otherwise - believe that America is the land where all their dreams will come true. If we help stop the poverty and corruption in these other countries (say, by not backing their dictatorships, by not supporting their drug trade, things that we and our governments do), then we're making things better for everyone and attacking the issue far more effectively.

Right. Let's also make sure the country isn't being brought down by its black population. Nothing but bad effects have been brought by all black immigrants. They should all go back where they came from, as punishment for their ancestors immigrating without proper procedure. And hey, why not toss out all the Chinese who came in when they were building the railroad? I'll bet they weren't screened and given proper certificates of citizenship.

The system wasn't as critical as it is now. Also, they payed taxes in some way shape or form. This isn't about what happened in the past or who did what. This is about solving a problem we have now. (Also, when we freed the slaves, we gave them purchased territory in Africa if they wanted to migrate to their homeland.)

Considering how Canada now treats Natives, perhaps descendants of slaves should be exempt from taxation.
