Hey everyone, Just thought that I would pop in and toss you a little info from my side of things... I'll be posting more in a MySpace blog later, but basically things went down just like Jason said: we started working with Jon again last year but didn't know what form things were going to take. I had fun working through songs with Jon and we actually talked quite a bit on the phone and in person, but it became more and more apparent that as cool as it would be to have both me and Jon on the new CD, I really had this nagging feeling that Jon and the guys were perfectly capable of writing a killer CD without me, and since I am a tech-metal guy at heart and kindof a control freak when it comes to songs, the time was right for me to bow out and give Jon back the band that he worked so hard to get off the ground. and let me tell you: it has been REALLY hard to keep all that a secret for over half a year!! My original intent with BTA was to come in when they were in PILES AND PILES of debt + lacking a lead guitarist and just help them tour to pay that down, and then to put together a CD, tour to support it and then go back to Aletheian... actually, that is almost exactly how my contract was worded. But things started to pick up and BTA went from drawing under a hundred or so fans a night to a band that was selling out small clubs, so I stuck around to see things through because it felt like God was really kicking open doors. But when Duck left and Jon looked like he would be able to get back with the band, things just seemed right for me to get back to Aletheian full time. I stuck around a bit longer than anyone really expected, but I was more than happy to help the band get to where it is now and then pass the project back to Jon. As far as my involvement in the new CD, I put together a few song ideas as well as a complete song for the CD and helped a bit with parts and arrangements for a few others, so I gave it to them to use if they want it... I am not even taking any royalties or anything, I just hope they put out a killer CD. Maybe if you are lucky I'll post some of the demo tracks I wrote that will never get used Also, on this CD everyone in the band contributed a few song ideas, and they all have a different feel than the others, so it should be fun for longtime BTA fans to see how each individual member approaches the writing of a full song. BUUUUUUUUT... another thing that I don't think has been talked about enough is the impact that Lopez will have on the CD. He is a killer drummer and also songwriter and guitarist... I'm not kidding either, he can shred it up and has a really tight sense of rhythm. He comes from a straight-up death metal drumming background and is stupidly fast and tight. I really think that his style will lend a much heavier feel to the songs. I think that will have just as much an impact on the feel of the songs as any other member change and I think you will all be very happy with it. So anyway, I'll still poke my head in on the boards every once in a while to answer questions and just hang out. Peace Will you be laying down any clean vocals in the song you wrote? I'll miss those. Definitely make sure you drop by from time to time. Especially if you feel you want to let us in on any news with Aletheian. Looking forward to some new stuff.

(I'm not trying to talk you out of it I'd love to hear those demos as much as the next metal head)

So... When do we get new aletheian? ;D ALLRIGHT ALLRIGHT!! I get the hint! I honestly don't know, but I have been dying to start writing again. We are in a strange position in that as far as our record label and new fans are concerned, we JUST put out a CD and they want us to tour on it... BUT... as far as the band and the longtime fans are concerned, that CD is 3 years old. Throughout the history of Aletheian/Crutch, we have tried to get a recording finished every other year, so we are a bit behind that schedule. So the answer is: I don't know, but we will start the ball rolling soon.

I just thought it would be funny to be the third person asking the same question...though I am very excited about a new Aletheian album...anyway, carry on.

Dying Vine=3 times better most Tech/Prog Death albums. I have years and years of enjoyment out of that album left. You guys can take your time.

the answer is: we will start the ball rolling sometime in June or July of next year. There you go, you heard it from the man himself. Now go. Spread the word. *sits back from afar to watch the fun*

I WILL say that I have been talking with the guys about getting together a new track to post on the internet sometime before the end of the year, so barring catastrophe (yes I had to google catastrophe because I suck at spelling) there should be something new to hear well before that anyway. But in the meantime... get psyched for the new BTA!

I will forgive your sloth if you promise me this one thing; that you will play a show in Chicago sometime between August 1st and the end of the year.
