jerry falwell?
Calling for the assasination of venezuelan president. "If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. And I don't think any oil shipments will stop."
Pat Robertson, the conservative Christian broadcaster
How do Christians respond?
i just want to know how many people are aware of his comments and how they feel about them.

i am saddened by this remark.it is no worse or better than a muslim cleric calling for a jihad or other terrorist action. I REALLY THINK THE JERRY FALLWELLS,PAT ROBERTSONS AND THAT IDIOT WHO HOLD UP SIGNS SAYING"GOD HATES FAGS"NEED TO RE-READ THEIR BIBLES AND CHECK OUT JESUS' GOLDEN RULE.GOD HATES THE SIN-NOT THE SINNER.THESE MEN CLAIM TO BE REVERENDS OR PASTORS.THAT MEANS GOD HOLDS THEM TO A HIGHER ACCOUNTING THAN A REGULAR PARRISHONER(THEWORD SAYS"GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS)BECAUSE THEY ARE GIVING GODS MESSAGE TO HIS FLOCK.I PRAY FOR THESE MEN TO BE SPIRIT-LED.I SUGGEST WE ALL PRAY REALLY HARD FOR THEM,THEIR CONGREGATIONS AND FOR NON-BELIEVERS.THE PRESS IS EATING THIS UP AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS COMING UNDER SCRUTINY.I HOPE THEY HAVE SOMEONR WHO THEY ARE ACCOUNTABLE TO SO THAT THE REBUKING CAN START!!! PAT ROBERTSONS ACTIONS ARE HARDLY WIINING FOLKS TO JESUS!!! !!!!!!WALK IN LOVE!!!!!

when i heard about this i didnt think that paterson's comments were as dramatic as Chavez's people made it seem...although it wasnt as dramatic, i still believe that it was a stupid comment...i really don't support chavez, i heard a lot of thing's he's been doing to make venezuela like cuba...he's even changed their military uniforms to make them look like cuba's ...he's trying to help the lower class with communist views...he's even helping me country, Ecuador...but i still don't support him...he's just gonna create chaos..i dont hate him and i will be praying for chavez as well as the rest of the guys mentioned here....as Christians we have to be really careful because a lot of non-believers are always out there waiting for us to make a mistake and then make all Christians pay the price...i totally agree with you ezekiel

some opinions are best left unsaid, especially if you represent Jesus on national TV!

AND THAT IDIOT WHO HOLD UP SIGNS SAYING"GOD HATES FAGS" His name is Fred Phelps. He is what gives Topeka churches a bad name, as well as providing an example for those who believe all in the Christian society are judgmental jerks. My friend's mom tried walking up to him and his cronies when he picketed a local superchic(k) concert and they all were very rude and disrespectful. I've heard that the Phelps family is very rude to guests who visit their church. I've also heard that some of the Phelps family was disowned and disregarded for disagreeing with their beliefs. Talk about people who need some serious guidance.

Conservative Christians bother me, they're all hatemongering selfish judgemental creeps. They say they represant God but they are really just trying to be Him, because they crave power and when they get a little taste of it, for instance media broadcasts, they go crazy and don't think about the consequances of saying God hates fags and all muslims should die, that just turns more people away.

Let's not make hasty generalizations.

True. but that's the only side of it you normally see. I like senator McCain even though he's republican. and I don't like very many democrats although I consider myself one. but just so you know, I like to rant and if I ever get up on the soap box it takes alot of coaxing and reasonable counterpoints to get me down.

True. but that's the only side of it you normally see. Exactly. It's the concept of a "silent majority." You are speaking of people who are both religiously conservative and political coservative, right? I consider myself to be a religious conservative, and a true political conservative - a libertarian.

I don't get involved with politics too much.

I get involved to the point of voting for the president and choosing my own opinion (also why i registered without a "side")... Very rarely anymore is it possible to see a political debate (not talking about this forum, but tv here) where it is an intelligent opinionated debate and more or less biassed opinions and verbal attacks. Which are as entertaining as a Jerry Springer show, but still fruitless to the point of being retarded.

You are speaking of people who are both religiously conservative and political coservative, right? Somewhat. I consider myself a liberal, meaning as much as you want, but not too far beyond what's necassary, in a sense I'm a conservative liberal and that's an oxymoron or a paradox if you will.
