.......so there is this town in Nebraska called *ahem* Hickman (Please get all of your hick/redneck jokes out NOW). All I could see was BTA IS PLAYING IN HICK... I got excited. Two hunters were dragging their dead deer back to their car. Another hunter approached pulling his along too. "Hey, I don't want to tell you how to do something ... but I can tell you that it's much easier if you drag the deer in the other direction. Then the antlers won't dig into the ground." After the third hunter left, the two decided to try it. A little while later one hunter said to the other, "You know, that guy was right. This is a lot easier!" "Yeah, but we're getting farther from the truck," the other added.

my brother and I might be doing vocals for part of the set
which means I need to listen to a ton of BTBAM, Benea Reach, and Zao to get back into my technique

The show was great.
the opener, Beauty Above the Thorns, was some sort of pop punk/rock/emo band, they honestly were not bad. I was expecting a lot less from them but they put on a good high energy show for a bunch of kids and they were all very talented musicians. The lead singer was this little girl with braces and a bass who listens to Extol and Becoming the Archetype
My old band, Apophis, put on a great show, playing at almost twice the speed they normally do. Double leads. vicious rhythms. great mix of clean and growled vocals. I was very impressed and I think this was one of the best reactions they've had in a while.
Next band, Rest Assured, sucked, didn't watch them, stood around, aping hxc dancers and joking with friends.
Next band, Gates of Assyria, was slightly better, I know them personally and they are all great guys and very talented musically but it just doesn't come together for them. Too much high gain assy guitar tone, the vocalist has a decent range but doesn't seem to understand dynamics much. Overall they sounded pretty generic, though their newer material wasn't bad
Then, of course, BTA was great. They had 4 major technical difficulties but they put on a helluva show. They played a majority newer songs, with a handful of old songs thrown in and one song off of Physics of Fire. Got to talk to them a little, turns out Duck is the brother in law of a guy who use to/currently goes to school at Montreat where I go to school. We talked to Jon Star about different metal bands. Informed Wisdom of where they could find the nearest Cookout(NC based fast food restaurant, you can get chicken nuggets as a side item for crying out loud!! amazing!) All in all it was a great show and I really enjoyed it
