1. Listening to this Satanic music that's supposed to destroy me and my spiritual life has actually strengthened my faith quite a lot. A lot more than if I would've been listening to bulls**t CCM this whole time. Why limit God and say he can't work through Satanic Music? 2. Here's the posts I could find where Maerund touches on the subject: There's more, but I don't feel like copying it all. Here's the page where it starts: forums.firestream.net/showthread.php?t=26709&page=2&highlight=majestic+winter

I'm not sure whether to post this right now, because I'm getting kind of emotional....
But seriously, I don't consider the people that have posted those posts Christian I think, though before properly making that claim, because it is a very serious one, I will have to think about it a little more properly. But I'm tempted to say that if you have a spiritual experience, of the degree these people describe, through satanic music, you don't have the slighest clue who Jesus is.
Why limit God? Because he is holy! Have you never opened a bible? How can God possibly work through lyrics that describe the hate of people to him? Please use your common sense! Satanic Black Metal can not possibly be from God!
The only example I can think of right now where God uses evil to do his work, is when Israel gets attacked by Babylon, so that's punishment, it had nothing to do with experiencing Him.
God is holy! How could he possibly work through satanism? Holy and unholy mix like water and oil; like fire and wood: satanism wouldn't last in Gods holy presence.
If, as you say, satanic music has helped you in you spiritual life, I would like to kindly ask you, if that spiritualism is from God or from satan. Doesn't it seem obvious that satanic music would enhance occult spiritualism? Obviously Satan can give you a spiritual experience too. I will not judge you, I don't know you personally, and I've probably al ready said to much, I'm sorry if I did so.
But the article you just showed me, said there is truth is satanic black metal.... how can somebody, from a Christian perspective say there is truth in satanism? satans native tongue is lying, and lying is what I read in those posts. How could you possibly agree with something that calls God himself a blasphemour? He didn't blaspheme by tearing the veil, how can God blaspheme against himself?....
Nothing in the articles you just showed me makes the least bit of sense put next to solid scripture, I couldn't continue past the first post by the way..... It was just too much nonsense, nonsense that made me very emotional, nonsense that teaches to break Gods commandments.
This was probably all a big fundamentalist rant to all of you, without any proper structure or arguments. But I feel like posting it anyway, however emotional the state I have written this in may have been. Again Ethan, I don't know you personally, I am in no position to judge you, but finding God trhough satanism makes not the least bit of sense to me. I can't understand it..... I can understand most heresies, and when one might be properly argumented, I ussualy don't bother to preach against it too much, but this very idea sounds like an insult to God in my ears.
Again, I've probably said too much al ready, but this is what goes through my head when I read your post, and the posts you quoted..... Please don't take it as offensive or judging.

Good music is good music
I thank God for it all the same, satanic or otherwise
And the fact of the matter is, Immolation is way better than Mortification

You listen to A Day To Remember They're not boring. They're boring as f**k in comparison to bands like 1349 and Deathspell Omega

Again, I've probably said too much al ready, but this is what goes through my head when I read your post, and the posts you quoted..... Please don't take it as offensive or judging. Ok, look. We obviously have very different understandings of who our God is, but I know that I am still a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ. You can stay in your little fundamentalist box and think that Satan has possessed me through music with satanic lyrics, but I know that you're sadly mistaken. I'll be praying that God can open your mind and let you see that he is beyond your limits you put him in. He can work through and reach people through sin, just as he can reach people through satanic music. Think outside the box, that close-minded mindset that so many lukewarm Christians seem to have. God wants us to question and get to know Him better, He doesn't want us to believe without question the words that come out of your preacher's mouth. He wants us to have our own relationship with Him, and if that involves music that brings me closer to him, then that's how it will be. If it's not for you, that's understandable, but don't go trying to tell me that this relationship I have with Christ is actually with Satan. Note: Those posts I copied from Maerund are not my exact beliefs either. I've read them and I don't believe them to be lies spewed forth from Satan himself. I believe that it is how Maerund sees God, and I am totally fine with that. He brings up some great points on how BM has changed his spiritual life for the better, and I can relate on that point.

As for the other posts in this thread, Black Metal reigns supreme as long as bands like Blut Aus Nord and Katharsis exist.
